Your chance to support some valuable research whilst looking at beautiful pictures of forests - have a 5 minute visual break @biodiful.bsky.social
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Great - thank you for that - always useful
Can I ask - what would you like the training to consist of? What would you consider useful to know ? What do you think would help you supervise ? Really appreciate your insight
That Tom Gauld meme of the two opposing nations perfectly mirrored, but edited to be between archives and museums.
slow day in the office so figured we'd start some beef with museums
Please do keep us posted on what you are doing
This year, @annayahprosser.bsky.social, Tamarinde Haven, Nicki Lisa Cole, and I have tried to envision the ideal, utopian future for open qualitative research.
We've had community workshops, talks, a charter, grant apps, a special issue, all to build "Qualitopia" for 2026✨ qualitopia.my.canva.site
I saw today a comment which I will share - don't know who said it originally. 'If you feel heavy because you care about injustice, suffering & ecological disaster remember that a trillion dollar propaganda machine was built to make you numb, and it didn't work on you'. #StayStrong
New climate change campaign #Adapt2Win launched by elite athletes around the world in the run up to COP30 calling for climate adaptation investment.
Fantastic to see climate action from athletes including several from the UK - Beth Mead, Keira Walsh, Laura Crane, Raheem Sterling.

Have you seen or are you part of the work that the Inger Mewburn has been doing on neurodivergence in research. There was a big survey that went out earlier this year I think.
Three stones have been moved and placed outside the bowl. There wasn't lots of water around ( and no reports of earthquakes) , if someone had been in my garden then they probably would have taken something ( like my apples - yup one year). I'm in the UK for reference- Any ideas - anyone??
One bowl is used mostly by the cat ( Horace) and the other ( white and in photo) on a slightly raised platform and is used by birds and insects. Both bowls have stones in them for insects to get at the water. Most wildlife ( and Horace) usually drink out of the river.
Coming home 90 mins later...
stones/ pebbles in and outside of an animals water bowl
Off piste from Researcher Development - but I have a Monday mystery (which I do not have a solution to - so there is not going to be a grand reveal Poirot Style).
It's the mystery of the moving stones - a thread...
On Thursday evening my partner & I went out for 90 mins, I topped up 2 water bowls...

One suggestion I've found is
Ask the question: “Before this person pushed my button, which one of their buttons might I/ survey have pushed?” This allows us to externalise and recognise it as the respondee's problem

I'm sure I'm not the only person who has had to process hate responses in an anonymous survey - my latest 'is to justify more administrators IT MUST STOP LEAVE US ALONE WE HATE YOU'
What techniques can we suggest for managing unprovoked anonymous rage? #PhDSky #AcademicSky
