Hot dry with wildfire induced wind: #PickettFire taking advantage of upslope topography / fuels. Column plume fires are known for generating their own local weather patterns/wind along with lofting larger ash & embers which can lead to new spot fires #wildfire #NapaCounty #Calistoga

The Park Fire, one year on. I analyze and look at the post-fire landscapes along with the history of fire in the region. Take a watch if you’d like! youtu.be/CnAnKNDfBOk?...
Great video from @norcalstormchasing.bsky.social debunking some conspiracies that have popped up over the last few weeks in regards the Palisades Fire

Yep I remember that one. I was grew up in the Portland Metro area, those fires delayed my senior year of high school by a year by a week or two.
Zeke’s a good friend of mine. We did a video together just after the SoCal fires when I got back in to Chico. www.youtube.com/live/FG1pPTL...
New video on the Palisades Fire and why it was so hard to contain. I push back on some major talking points being made about why this fire could have been stopped, when, in reality, there was no logical way to do so in the case of a wildland fire. youtu.be/kLq9vMbspv4
Was crazy to be filming this along cohasset road, then drive 15 minutes back to my house.
Today is the anniversary of the Park Fire in Northern California, which burned over 429,000 acres and destroyed 709 structures in Cohasset, Forest Ranch, and Paynes Creek. The fire started 5 minutes away from where I live in Chico, and it was a nail biting situation that entire day and night.
Why logging companies don’t need to use herbicides after salvage logging within burn scars. Newsflash: prescribed fire will do an even better job and is way more environmentally friendly, sustainable, and natural in the landscape.
The current state of rhe Dixie Fire burn scar, pyrogeography, and more. My first longform video analyzing a past California wildfire. youtu.be/tjS5WUIQzZs?...
I look like such a Californian in this photo holy moly 💀
It was great to meet up with @norcalstormchasing.bsky.social all the way up in Chico!
New video up on the YouTube channel where my friend, veteran fire photojournalist Craig Philpott, and myself talk about the Dixie Fire, wildfire photojournalism, fire suppression, and more! youtu.be/k9k3guH5WUM?...
If I started doing videos where I travel to Northern California burn scars, take you all through some pyrogeography and analyzing the burn scar, and then analyzing the fire history in the area through mapping and satellite imagery… would you all watch and be interested?
Some raw, unedited, never-before-seen footage from California's 4th largest wildfire. Tonight was the first time I have seen some of these clips that I shot nearly one year ago. youtu.be/bELi96hB5hM
The Forest Service is looking to allow road building and in areas that have been off-limits for the past 45 years. One stated reason is to reduce fire hazards. Here’s a post and video about what people are leaving out of this conversation.

After this year I feel like I need to get a house in Arnett lol
I am delighted my Giants are winning. I am gutted for every Rockies fan I know, it’s just absolutely brutal right now
Some really sad news for the meteorology community. The legendary Gary England has passed away :( www.oklahoman.com/story/entert...
Southern California has seen some wildfires pop up today, the largest being the Ranch Fire, southeast of Apple Valley. The fire was last mapped at 369 acres and burning at a critical rate of spread. Additional 10 engines have been requested immediate need for structure defense, per Incident Command.
I wasn’t expecting to chase storms any time soon, but alas things change! The SPC has a marginal risk for severe storms tomorrow in far Northern California for severe winds and large hail. Convective models have been showing isolated storms north of Mount Shasta, with even a chance for a supercell.
Huge dusty tornado continues north of Morton, Texas. Watch live via: www.youtube.com/@DanielShawA... @NWSLubbock #txwx #nmwx
Something seems a little fishy about these mesoscale discussions provided by the Storm Prediction Center…
Back in my local landscape of Northern California, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s good to be home!
We chased an extreme dust storm in West Texas today, near Lamesa. This dust storm was associated with a destructive severe-warned storm. Full video available now on the NorCal Storm Chasing YouTube.
Check out the latest video of @donovanj2002 and I’s storm chasing adventures, this time showcasing our escape through a massive severe storm yesterday in Texas! Video live on the NorCal Storm Chasing YouTube! youtu.be/vuueDHbVBEU?...
Sometimes the best views are behind the storm… taken behind yesterday evenings MCS in Menard, TX.
Incredible rainfall rates and almost non-stop lightning — a Flash Flood Warning in effect for San Antonio, TX and surrounding areas.

Yesterday, #ICECHIP teams collected numerous hailstones > 100 mm in diameter, with the largest one being at least 139 mm (5.47 inches) just east of Afton, Texas. These stones will be sent to the cold lab at NCAR.
This is why I love to chase extreme weather... a time-lapse that I shot of an incredible LP supercell last Thursday near Graham, Texas. This spaceship passed just to our west and provided an amazing show to all of us there to witness it. #WX
New video uploaded to the NorCal Storm Chasing YouTube! It documents the Akron, CO, photogenic tornado two days ago! youtu.be/5bxObPLAZx4
