Been out of town a lot for my regular work, so I haven't been able to do a lot of #pottery the last couple months. But it's also given me some time to figure out how to keep cultural identity in the mythological creatures I want to make while finding the balance between nature and myth.
I'm making my first #wheelthrown #teapot. Based on #megaman legends' Tron Bonne alternate costume from #umvc3.

Yeah. The owner of the other piece gave permission to break their piece to try to save mine. And it was still difficult, but I did it.
Firing at a community studio means that firing is often out of your control. So when a very avoidable issue occurs and your piece shrunk around someone else's. I just got a figure out what to do... Wish me luck.

Spooky season! Making #ceramic #pendants for a #mananggal. This #aswang is your secluded woman that lives by herself on the outskirts. At night, her torso separates from her legs as she hunts. Stories like this have been cited to be during colonization to discredit the babaylan, or village shaman.

I may have just grabbed the closest glaze I could to pour on the inside to finish within class time. Blue Smoke (I think) from IMCO, with the outer rim being a test that ended up being more black than expected. Still happy with how it turned out.

Reminder to test! I do like this. But it's nothing of what I was expecting it to. Speckled buff base with B-Mix sprig molds. The sprigs were brushed with copper wash, so was expecting the green. The outside glaze is an experimental version of red lotus, so expected red crystals.

I'm experimenting with different surface design techniques. The first is #sgraffito and inlaid with #mishimaceramics. The second is stenciled with dripped underglazes.
