Oof. That really sucks.
Also HAPPY FRIDAY I would really like for people to pre-order my magical spy weird city novel!
It's not coming out in the UK because the one (1) offer we got for UK rights was like "Ugh ugh bleh THE BUTCHER OF THE FOREST barely sold, why would we WANT UK rights"
But! If pre-orders?? Maybe LOVE???
Cite the deep magic to me, witch. I was there when it was written and I think it’s important to credit our sources.

@maximpetergriff.bsky.social's posts are always a peaceful moment for me on the timeline
I don't remember seeing an image of Earth before that captures the (thin, fragile, tiny layer of) atmosphere so clearly. I mean, look at that.
I know the world is on fire but please take a few minutes to look at the photos of the moon from yesterday. A gallery of some of the most astounding pictures ever taken. Here's one with Venus on the left

Mamdani is not just filling the potholes with the crew. He's creating a visual and personal reminder of the dignity inherent in all of these anonymous government jobs.
Anatopism. Like 'anachronism' but for place. (literally 'something out of its proper place')
This is a real word already but definitely needs adopting by fantasy writers for the reasons skeeted!
...I have many conflicting reactions happening inside my brain right now.
Screenshot of text from a review comment on a GitHub pull request, saying: "In the (delightful) pottymouth achievement, I'd add poops and pooped as conjugations to bring poop in line with the others, e.g. fart." The scatological words are formatted in monotype font as one would for code, lending an incongruously serious technical tone that is nevertheless accurate.
A real code review comment I got to type with my own two hands.
The Artemis astronauts. Something that’s happening now that in no way whatever sucks. A blessing.

How deep is the sea?
At first,
knee-deep;
further
on,
waist-deep,
neck-deep;
and beyond
that over the head.
Our friends at Firestorm are struggling in the face of disaster capitalism. A queer- and worker-owned bookstore that has, over and over, been there for the community.
They let me set up a referral page with them. Books from my podcasts, my books, and books I love

When you first mentioned this, I was so curious and interested, but thought you wouldn't likely share for the reasons you outlined above. Thank you for sharing anyway! It's such a kind and generous thing to do, which is quite on brand for you now that I mention it :)

1 year later, @anisota.net will be the first social media app with a fog of war
I do think it's funny that what rounds to "grew up pretending to be a horse on the internet" is 1) a thing I get to admit at work and 2) genuinely *directly* useful for my job
There's also a million indirect ways it shaped my skills and self, but that it's a job qualification as-is delights me.
Same! A formative time for me.
I'm still in touch with a small group of people from one such roleplaying forum. There've been some efforts here and there, but mostly nobody's tried to make the experience anew. I do think it's interesting how many of us grew up to become writers or researchers!
most of the time you don’t want true randomness and/or simulation in a game. you think you do but you’re wrong and will get mad at us if you get it.
Rough copy of a horse from the caves of Lascaux - charcoal on limestone - here, charcoal on paper - proportions are off but it's not without charm
Meanwhile - drawing charcoal cave horses for kicks
small hours big time something different tonight a box made to house the moon of choice an assemblage of wood, flint, nails and black paint - a shrine to Ganymede ( here we have a photograph of an object I made - a box to hold a sphere of flint - lit by two fat candles )

a pink hand carved stamp of the anisota brand mark next to an inked stamped print and carving tools
The new Anisota brand mark is a hand-carved linocut stamp created by @dame.is. It’s grounded in the physical world & includes imagery inspired by Appalachia & the world of moths.
If you’re at #atmosphereconf there are free stickers & potentially numbered, stamped prints of the brand mark for sale.
