TELESCOPE
There is a moment after you move your eye away
when you forget where you are
because you've been living, it seems,
somewhere else, in the silence of the night sky.
You've stopped being here in the world.
You're in a different place,
a place where human life has no meaning.
You're not a creature in a body.
You exist as the stars exist,
participating in their stillness, their immensity.
Then you're in the world again.
At night, on a cold hill,
taking the telescope apart.
You realize afterward
not that the image is false
but the relation is false.
You see again how far away
each thing is from every other thing.

“We’re at a point where billionaires are creating apocalypse bunkers. Why are we facilitating 1% of people to survive after the world ends instead of the 99% of the people to survive in the world while it’s still here?”
Great point by Munya Chawawa 👌🏻

What I Mean When I Say I'm Tired
I don't mean I want to sleep.
I mean I want to disappear for a while.
To be rain on a stranger's roof.
To be smoke rising from someone else's fire.
I don't want to die.
But I do want to rest in a way
the world has never allowed me.
I don't want comfort.
I want quiet.
I want the mercy of being unseen
without being unloved.

Who’d have thought a fossil-fuel shill like Trump would be the one to spark a green revolution? | George Monbiot
The US attack on Iran has made the need for renewable energy inarguable, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot
“Greens who were long dismissed as “idealistic” & “unrealistic” now look like hard-headed pragmatists & true patriots. They’re years ahead of their rivals in demanding a transition that makes sense on every level: environmental, economic & political” - great article from @georgemonbiot.bsky.social 👇

one of our local reform candidates referenced 'DOGE' in his leaflet...
all their centrally posted leaflets are misleading people to think that they are voting for national policies
it's a tactic lacking in honesty and integrity, but not unexpected!

on these sunny days, solitary bees are busy laying eggs
these bees are important pollinators, just like honeybees
why not give them a home? 💚

How to stop fascism and the far right.
In a nutshell: offer voters a non-establishment eco-left alternative that *genuinely* stands for people and planet.
It's not complicated.

Around *1/5* of all the species that live in a natural forest need dead wood.
So no, it's not 'wasted' or 'untidy'. Even in your garden, spare a thought and leave it for them.

Heat pumps are the most efficient heating technology ever invented.
They harvest and compress pre existing heat in the air, ground or water and transport it where it is needed.
That energy is all around us.
And it does not have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

More than a fifth of UK’s ‘austerity children’ scarred by poverty, study says

More than a fifth of all “austerity generation” UK children scarred by poverty.
Children bear the human cost of refusal to tax corporations and super rich.
Tories want to reimpose the two child benefit cap to fund defence. Reform want to do the same to cut price of a pint of beer.
