Few family stories have shaped Ireland’s modern history as profoundly as Guinness.

We are very sad to learn of the death of Dr Deirdre McMahon. Deirdre was an historian nonpareil, as well as a staunch advocate for archives and archivists. She was a great friend of UCD Archives over all the decades of our existence. We will miss her. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Here’s one thing to look forward to this year: the release of the 1926 census - really looking forward to exploring the census when it comes online - how and where will many of my Cumann na mBan women appear, I wonder? #exploreyourachives #speirgorm
