Arthur Edward Guinness, 4th Earl of Iveagh, stands on the left holding a copy of his book Guinness: A Family Succession, beside Professor Patrick Geoghegan, Director of the Trinity Long Room Hub, on the right. They are pictured indoors in front of wooden bookshelves and office blinds.
Few family stories have shaped Ireland’s modern history as profoundly as Guinness.

We are very sad to learn of the death of Dr Deirdre McMahon. Deirdre was an historian nonpareil, as well as a staunch advocate for archives and archivists. She was a great friend of UCD Archives over all the decades of our existence. We will miss her. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
I also send love and positive thoughts. X
