"This is a collection of designs created by graphic designer Hisui Sugiura. It was published in 1926 (Taisho 15) after his studies in Europe. Hisui's design collections, including 'Hisui Flower and Bird Designs' which is listed in the NDL Image Bank, went out of print after the Great Kanto Earthquake. This collection was created to supplement those collections, with Sugiura gradually drawing and accumulating designs. It features new motifs that reflect the results of his studies in Europe, such as bold diagonal lines and compositions that place figures within straight lines."
