The coolest thing about birding is I've gone my whole life completely unaware that the little flutters of black and brown are actually incredibly colorful and photogenic. It's like a fun little Pokemon game that I didn't even realize was going on around me.

Anyway here's a red-bellied woodpecker :)

God forbid people want to mod their games.

You're right; it's best to ignore those types of comments. It's a shame how pervasive they are, though.

I ended up getting a monitor and an adjustable stand. I don't want to destroy my neck and back. Two days of using the deck with its dock as a base, and I'm dying already, lol.

What's up with people being so mad at portable monitors in r/steamdeck? I'm looking for recommendations since I don't have a desktop PC nor a laptop for the next couple of months, and all I see is snarky comments saying "just use the deck's screen." ( •_•)

Lots higher ups in tech have this mindset. "AI is the future, so there's no use resisting it." Then they use the same logic to avoid addressing problems in the present, as you wouldn't want to obstruct our way into The Future. Timothy Snyder calls it the politics of inevitability.

Of course! :) I have noticed that my "feeling like shit" meter maxes out when I don't eat any fruit or vegetables, so adding those as snacks helps a lot. Hoping the suggestions help a little; I know it can be hard to eat when energy is so low.

Going through the same the past couple of months. Snacking has helped (bananas, granola bars, bread with jam, apples, cookies + milk, etc.), as well as ready to eat/microwavable food from the grocery store, which usually lasts me for a couple of servings.

Agreed. Perhaps, borrowing Moore's wording of good vs terrible wasn't ideal here :)

I also frequently think about Alan Moore's point on reading bad books as a writer, which also goes for any creative medium. Bad art can be inspiring; it can help you find your dislikes as much as your likes, and it can be liberating :)

Cool command that I used to downsize all JPGs to <150kb:

find . -size +150k -iname "*.jpg" -printf '%P\n' | xargs -I {} convert {} -define jpeg:extent=150kb {}
