The inflation of printed book prices (paper, logistics) may force collectors to turn to older and cheaper catalogues just to sort their stamps.
In case of exchange such collectors just need to compare quote in same edition to evaluate how many stamps are needed on both sides.

#geography

Alan Cleaver on the postal path at Glenridding in Cumbria
The narrow and potentially treacherous postman's path at Glenridding in Cumbria. Postman George 'The Post' Teasdale actually managed to ride his GPO bike over this path in the 1950s/60s but I recommend walking it!

An image showing a soldier in olive drab military gear, including a helmet and tactical vest, using a long-handled tool to dismantle or strike a life-sized, upside-down statue of Jesus on a crucifix. The statue is white and positioned outdoors near a stone wall, a solar panel, and some greenery.
This is an IDF soldier in Lebanon smashing a Jesus statue with a sledgehammer. It's obviously unacceptable but what gets me is the outrage this elicits when the political class never cared about the destruction of Mosques in Gaza. It takes their religious symbols being destroyed for them to care.

This is the cover of The Continent. Above that, in a thin strip, it says “African Journalism | 18 April 2026 | Issue 235”. Beneath the title is the headline: “South Africa’s populist pretender”. The central image is a caricature of a Gayton Mackenzie with exaggerated features. He has a very wide grin showing large, uneven teeth, a rounded face, and heavy lines around his eyes and cheeks. His expression is confident but slightly mocking. His hair is bright blond, styled in a sweeping, combed-over shape that resembles Donald Trump's signature hairstyle. He is wearing a dark blue suit jacket, a white shirt, and a bright red tie. On his jacket are several round badges. One is yellow with the letters “PA”. Another shows the South African flag. A third has a blue Star of David on a white background. Another badge reads “I ♥ Orban”. The illustration is by Gado.

Welcome to Issue 235 of The Continent
In South African politics, Gayton McKenzie is a larger-than-life character who leans into his criminal past and blends populism, and a striking disregard for the rule of law. Remind you of someone?

Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage. A woman answers the door. We have come for the child, says the hooded figure So soon? she asks It is time, says the hooded figure. The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card! What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading! For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman, the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them. Do not cry mother. I am a writer now.

From 50 years ago as reported in the now defunct Castle Point Standard.
The first post box on Canvey Island was withdrawn after 82 years of service and donated to the island's Dutch Cottage Museum.
The General Post Office, Wellington, New Zealand – sent to Master Harold Good, Oxford Road, Walthamstow in 1906 (without a message).
