Meanwhile here I am cursing the MBTA Commuter Rail’s cloudy windows and leaning over the next seat to look thru the only transparent part of the window

Good morning!
I know it’s a holiday week and 7 AM, but it still seems weird to me to see Dorchester Ave this empty

. @massdcr.bsky.social tell us the trail detour between Conley St and 880 Morrissey Blvd in Dorchester is to allow them to install a pump system to reduce tidal and storm flooding. They expect the detour to be in place until sometime this summer.
I think the two are tied together
Logistically, one of the big benefits of holding the race on the Patriots Day holiday is that vast fleets of school buses are available to help transport tens of thousands of people from Boston to the starting line. I'd love to read the story behind how that is managed!
School buses travel on the Massachusetts Turnpike to Copley Square to pick up marathon runners. In the background are skyscrapers of the Boston skyline.

Good luck to the #BostonMarathon runners! From my seat on the Worcester train this morning I saw many dozens of buses carrying runners out to the starting line. And at Southborough Station there was another shuttle bus for people to get to Hopkinton.

The era of papering over America’s decline with cheap credit, imperial dividends, and toxic derivatives is over. The last Jenga block will eventually be pulled, and the tower that has loomed over us for 46 years will collapse in a heap.

The U.S. is caught in a spiraling debt crisis, and a major casualty might be demand for U.S. Treasuries—a critical support pillar for the economy and the government’s ability to spend money. https://bit.ly/4myv8p7

Maybe they should ‘self-deport’
Also, lawful prosecutions are not ‘retribution’
Bikes (including folding bikes) are not allowed on the subway on the day of the marathon. Bikes and scooters (including folding ones) will not be allowed on board Framingham/Worcester Line trains
Alright, so despite what the nice lady at South Station told me, #MBTA policy is no bikes - including folding ones - on the subways or the #MBTACR Worcester Line on Marathon Monday.

MBTA tweet MBTA Commuter Rail • @MBTA CR Bike Policy Information for Marathon Weekend! Starting at 5:00 pm on Sun., April 19 and through the end of service on Mon., April 20, bikes & scooters will not be allowed on Framingham/Worcester Line trains ONLY in both directions due to anticipated high ridership.
So the #MBTA really makes a big deal out of not allowing bikes on the Worcester line on Marathon Monday. But last year after I walked 3 miles to work the conductor said that folding bikes are allowed. And when I asked at the South Station ticket booth tonight I was told, “You good, honey.”

I was delayed on Wednesday evening and dreading the extra twenty minutes that these MBTA repairs have added to my commute recently. So on my way home I was very grateful to read that the project was completed more than a week ahead of schedule!
The new C-HR only started arriving last week. It’s supposed to be a little smaller than the bz, and larger than the previous version
Efficient enough for my long commute, compact but roomy enough for two bikes, five duffel bags and a passenger. I was leaning toward a Civic hybrid, now thinking of a Toyota C-HR or BZ EV. I used to have made in North America as a requirement but dropped that when most stopped making smallish cars.
Sarcasm? Sincere? What are your thoughts, I’m shopping for the first time in a decade.

At the last public meeting I went to on Blue Hill Av, the generational divide was stark. Retired homeowners who own cars and drive for transportation talked about how a bus lane would "destroy" their neighborhood and the youth begged for fast, reliable transportation that would get them to school
