Watching Ghost for the first time and wow this Carl guy is a real red flag

I am loving it being 90s season for the Ice Dance soundtracks at the olympics. Can't really get better than a Backstreet Boys medley. #Olympics2026
Aerial view of the Cerne Abbas giant - a landscape feature showing the white chalk outline of a naked man with a club raised in one hand. There is text over lay which reads 'It's a big one!'
Opportunities to transform nature don’t get much bigger than this!
We have the opportunity to conserve 340 acres (138 hectares) of biodiverse countryside surrounding the Cerne Abbas Giant, Dorset.
Today we've rung all of the bells in Wandsworth to celebrate being London Borough of Culture this year. Lots of first quarter peals, pub pints and general merriment. This includes a grab at the "interesting" bells at Holy Trinity Wandsworth - sorry to the neighbours! #bellringing #LBW
It’s the exclusive everyone wanted, the story that will win next year’s Pulitzer…
I can reveal London’s giant AI generated Christmas artwork, the subject of much online mockery, is being torn down - and I honestly *genuinely* think you’ll never guess why. www.londoncentric.media/p/ai-artwork...
The rule of law must be protected against further erosion, a parliamentary committee warns us today. Failure to do so, says the House of Lords constitution committee, risks the rise of extremist political parties, ultimately creating space for dictatorship.

In nine months you could grow a whole human or you could try to work out what the rule of law is.

I haven't even seen it yet! Foolishly booked theatre tickets months and months ago not knowing this TV highlight would happen. When I tell you my scroll reflex is on FIRE today trying to miss spoilers..
Ahh no, I'm sorry to hear that. Do dig around in the Reddit forums, I imagine someone out there has decided some sort of workaround by now given how absurd the whole thing is.
'fraid so. You can't download the books as a back-up / personal version anymore. If they discontinue a book you lose it (or if they update the text) and you're locked into the universe. Not an issue if you stick with their devices, but it binds you in completely. www.theverge.com/news/612898/...
As partner follows you on BlueSky I should probably concede that he did the legwork in sorting out our kindle library downloads before the deadline, not me...
I was lucky though as I'd downloaded my whole kindle library before it became licenses instead, so could side load that. If you didn't do that and still have a lot of books trapped in kindle the play store ones may be best for you. (Boox was my leading contender)
The ones that run play store would be great but I a) didn't find the price to quality ratio is quite there yet and b) like having everything searchable in one place not between apps.
I've recently switched to a kobo Libra (got the previous generation on eBay because I don't care about colour) following a lot of research and it's great. If you can be bothered to do the legwork they'll price match anyone and it's easy to add other stuff to and link with libby.
I've been hearing about this paper and the vagaries of Nature's house style for months so it's great to see it finally published!
The first ever joint analysis by the two operating long baseline neutrino experiments. Credit to all involved!

This yarn starts with tax dodging office blocks and becomes a wild rural crime multi-hyphenate boasting about his international mafia-linked career from Ribchester and yet my main takeaway is that snails are lowlifes www.londoncentric.media/p/terry-ball...
This is an absolute must read!
I'm very jealous of people who can visualise and discovering it's a thing suddenly made a lot of things make sense. Like why people get mad when a movie does 'look like the book' which I never got. If there was a safe procedure I could do to get a minds eye I would just for reading!
I'm completely aphantastic so it's just... There? If I'm reading slowly then it's like I'm reading out loud in my head but otherwise it's just words. If I try to imagine a character, I can give you a description of a list of words, but largely I get a sort of vibes based feeling in my brain
Is the event tonight recording an episode or a session with you speaking / Q&A?
Interested but husband is worried about being the sniffly audience member on a podcast!
if you’re ever curious about the cultural differences between the us and uk compare the Pinterest results for “baked potato toppings” and “jacket potato fillings”. This will cover everything important.
We did the whole journey from Kirkenes to Bergen and that's very common and surprised us too! They have to chase them off before it leaves. Once a day they have also little automated system that cleans the windows as well, which brought us joy. (it really is slow travel to the extreme...)
We so enjoyed watching all the locals who come down to watch the boat come in with their evening hot chocolate (we concluded we'd do the same) and the views are gorgeous. Have fun and I look forward to following along with your journey!
Oh you picked the best of the companies that provide this. We did one of their first sailings. The food is great and the silence of the engines is magical. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
The Lord Chancellor gave evidence this morning to the HL Constitution Committee - including (from 10:45) on UK involvement in possible reform of the ECHR. Video here, transcript in a few days www.parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/....
This is why I have two monitors at work - two live streams at once
In #HouseOfLords committees this week:
The Lords Justice and Home Affairs Committee published its report on prisons, calling for reducing reoffending to be the core purpose of the prison system.

Met Office graphic with the heading 'DID YOU KNOW?' and an illustration of a light bulb. Text reads: '100 years ago today, the BBC broadcast the very first Shipping Forecast, produced by the Met Office on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.' Includes the hashtag '#WhenItMatters'. On the right, a photo shows rough ocean waves under a cloudy sky.
Did you know? 100 years ago today, the BBC broadcast the #ShippingForecast for the very first time, produced by the Met Office for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
