Oh no, that really sucks. 🙁

Absolutely just fucking no.
No matter how progressive, liberal & forward-thinking you think the place where you live may be, things like this can & do still happen.
I hope the neighbours responsible for harassing the couple are caught & face punishment. #loveislove
Book 2 of 2025 was The Hound of Death by Agatha Christie. A fun collection of stories with a supernatural edge. Christie's trademark eye for issues around class, as well as her ability to write some pretty dark stuff, are on show here. #agathachristie #booksky
First book of 2025 is HELLE & DEATH by Oskar Jensen. I'm really enjoying it so far.
Happy New Year all!
Me, my sister, her partner & his mum go every year. Brhold our dedicated group chat.
Off to #Hornsea with my sis and our doggos today. But after that, I'm off work until the 3rd Jan, and this will be me.
Except I'll be wearing an #Oodie sleepshirt, drinking beer, eating Pot Noodles, takeaways and freezer food & drinking beer.
Healthy eating can wait!

Merry Christmas eve (just!)
Gorgeous sky this evening, viewed from Platform 1 at York Station.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you lovely guys too, from me and the Terrible Hound. 🌲🎅
Let's keep this going, folks.

I forgot to add a bloomin pic. Here it is.
My Christmas present to myself. #TheBetryalofThomasTrue by #A.J.West and #PerilatEndHouse by #AgathaChristie. Bought from the wonderful independent bookshop Criminally Good Books.
If you like crime books and are in #York, I highly recommend a visit! #independentbookshops
I just bought a friend #socks and #tea for #Christmas because we're at an age where socks & tea are actually exciting and wonderful gifts.

No digging, either.
Things I learned from reading #M.R.James:
1. No diggin'!
2. Oh, you did the digging. Whatever you found, put it back.
3. There is no kitchen cat.
4. But it's probably best to avoid stairs. And cats.
5. Also avoid wells, because they are bad news
#M.R.James fans out there, feel free to add more.
Yesterday would have been my lovely dad's 73rd birthday. He hated fuss, always insisted he didn't want presents. So happy heavenly birthday, Gaga, hope you're enjoying a pint and a moan in the big pub in the sky.
Here he is with Mum.
A placard at Brighton trans pride March which says ‘you are so loved’.
For anybody that needs to this, today or any day. #solidarity
Sending hugs. The first year is so incredibly hard, especially when it's around a big celebration like Christmas. This will be our second without both parents around (Dad died in Jan 2023 but was in hospital for Xmas 22, Mum has dementia and is in a care home). Look after yourself xx
Me too!
Bede writes a history of the English people Rosie Garland Ask, why I carve feathers to the spike of knives when men are too busy to read. I should be bricking windows into arrow-slots; should be bending yew to longbows. The year roars with blood, the murder of faith, and enemies close, closer. Kings hammer mistrust into swords, demand battle songs, and the world deafens with terror of one's neighbour. I turn to words. Their little lamps will outlive my flicker, that of lords, and of this current fear. I grind gall, vinegar, hone my quill. Feed the dark age with light.

Hugs. The time around anniversaries is always so hard. X

Hell, I'm ace/aro and even I fancy Scott! Wonderful work, you're so talented.
The Shining. It's frigtening not just for the hotel & its ghostly residents, but also what happens to Jack, which is incredibly unsettling.
Also The Colorado Kid, a brilliant mystery, with a rather lovely relationship between two old newspapermen and their protege at its core.
Good luck!
The M.R. James is my late Dad's old copy. He read me my first M.R. James story (A School Story) from this when I was about 12.
We found some nice stuff in the attic when clearing, but mostly it contained every single cardboard box
from everything my parents bought since c. 2009!
Greedy arseholes (the dog agrees).
