One of the most telling pics of the year ... so far.
A color, macrophoto of a Robin perched on a branch in Virginia, during late April, 2026. The capture was taken during rain and the photographer snapped the photo at the split second a raindrop fell on the top of the bird's head, making it appear like a "natural" crown. 📸 Dawn Denise Boyer of Gloucester, Virginia

Right in the middle of rain, the photo was captured the split second a droplet of water landed on the #Robins head like a crown! 👑

Yesterday we enjoyed fabulous views of Orcas as they cruised from Burra south and then east to Sumburgh, Shetland. We identified them as four members of the '140s' pod - one of the least known and recorded pods in Shetland waters. 🖤🤍

Isabelle (@isareksopuro on the other place) made a map to monitor data centers all around the world
It tracks construction + nearby power plants + local AI legislation, and follows the politicians behind their bans (+ if they're getting paid to do so!) and it’s bloody great.

A large black crow vigorously splashing in shallow water at the edge of a pond. The bird's feathers are ruffled and wet, and its nictitating membrane (inner eyelid) is closed over its eyes, giving its eye a cloudy white appearance. Water droplets spray into the air behind it as it flaps its wings against the surface. The background shows rippling water and a blurry green shoreline in the foreground. A large black Carrion Crow splashing in shallow water at the edge of a pond. The bird's feathers are ruffled and wet. The crow has now opened its nictitating membrane (inner eyelid), so that its eye is the more usual black appearance. You can't necessarily tell it from just this capture, but we're slowing down the splashing now. Water droplets spray into the air behind it still. The background shows rippling water, the shoreline not visible in this shot. Reading Green Park Business Park, Reading, UK ƒ/6.3; 1/1300 s; 350 mm; ISO 2000
A close-up of the same black Carrion Crow from the other photos, now standing still in the shallow, murky water. Its feathers are drenched and clumped together, giving it a disheveled appearance. The bird is facing forward but tilting its head slightly to the right, looking directly toward the camera with a dark, clear eye. (Nictitating membrane still retracted) Small ripples and a slight splash around its feet indicate it is still wading through the muddy edge of the pond. Reading Green Park Business Park, Reading, UK ƒ/6.3; 1/1300 s; 350 mm; ISO 2000
🪶 @robcrank68.bsky.social has chosen #SplashingAround as today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme.
Last week I was in the UK for business and one day while I was walking around the office park after lunch this Carrion Crow landed rather close to where I was to go take a bath.
