Most of the radical types took this inclusion as, whilst genuine, a sign that trans rights had achieved the same status as gay rights - a shibboleth governments could get brownie points for without actually helping queer people who weren't rich and white.

There was a *great* deal of trans cynicism about this. Stonewall had become the perfect example of corporate diversity by this point. Their income mostly came from corporate diversity training and Stonewall "accreditation" which we all knew meant fuck all.
