Fable app "shelfie" with two shelves of books and various knick knacks. On the top shelf is I Was A Teenage Slasher, a hockey mask, Outdrawn, The God of the Woods, Bury Your Gays and a lamp. On the second shelf is a globe, Ninth House, An American Marriage, Severance, a clock, and The City We Became.
Above the shelves reads "Macabre Manifesto". The description below reads "Slashet pollots and urban evils? Your taste is a love letter to dysfunction. But flaunt it- you thrive on confronting darkness with unflinching audacity. The background is a starry sky with clouds.

Top 8 for the year! I know I'm missing some great ones, but these are what came to mind. Here's hoping 2025 will be an equally incredible reading year!

Not at all! Just double crochets around an existing hair tie/elastic, then joined with a slip stitch. I used worsted weight (4) yarn and a J (6mm) hook.

No one deserves to be murdered at the hands of the state. 5.5% of ALL capital convictions handed down in the past 50 years have been overturned. How many others should have been?

If a punishment cannot be applied fairly and absolutely without error, it MUST NOT be applied at all.

remember, folks, posting is not that serious. it really isn't. it's not activism

exclusively posting about things that upset you will slowly surround you with undiluted negativity that'll make you miserable regardless of how ethical your social media is. be silly with friends, make art, have fun

Should I reorganize and make a physical TBR shelf? ATM I've got fiction vs non-fiction, then by genre, then alphabetical by author. It would still be the same, just with a separate TBR shelf. (Though my nf will stay as is, just to a different shelf)
How do you organize your shelves?

Deep Space 9 scene. The Sisko, Bashir, and Odo are in the kitchen and shoulder to shoulder. Sisko is wearing some of that classic colorful DS9 loungwear and cooking over a stove. He's holding out a spatula for Bashir to take a look or do a taste test. (Side note, I always wonder, does it go back in the pot? Do they use 20 new spoons doing taste tests?) Anyways, Basir looks nervous at whatever it is he's seeing. Odo, like a little brother wanting to be included in the party, stands just behind the two looking over Bashir's shoulder with great curiosity. Closed caption reads, "Beets are a very misunderstood vegetable."

In the past day I’ve heard two people who really should know better say they asked ChatGPT for factual info.

ChatGPT is not a search engine. It is predictive text based on other people’s stolen writing; its whole job is to make stuff up. Please do not ask it for facts. Tell a friend.

Do me a favor and support this campaign with a donation however small. Think of people behind bars and think what it would mean to you, if that was you, to have access to books. Thanks.

A reminder: If you're visiting loved ones over the holidays, and you notice that someone has lost or gained weight or is eating more or less than usual, that's great. Excellent observation skills on your part. Now--and here's the crucial part--keep your mouth shut and mind your own damn business!

Both started with onions/mushrooms/sausage, then deviated from there. Knew it was a matter of time before I screwed up, so.
