💔…for how difficult that was, that gentle passage and just being there is such a loving gift between friends. (Your dad’s letter you shared a while ago is still one of my fav “kind people are our best hope for humanity” moments…)

Revisiting a recent acquisition, always like to remind myself when something is especially nice or interesting, and this is both. This is definitely a recommendable album for anyone who enjoys Italian Baroque in general and violin music in particular!🤠
Some serious fireworks out of Valentini—I love the first track on this recording (Op 7, No 11).
Very fun word! If ‘chat’ were already there, it could be done. Wait, are you scamming Scrabble words at lunch…?!
(We could play double racks, 14 tiles…)

Bearing a striking resemblance to St Louis Blues NHL goalie Jordan Binnington (#50) Francesco Salviati, Italian, 1510–1563; Portrait of a Florentine Nobleman, 1546–48; oil on panel; 40 1/4 x 32 1/2 inches; Saint Louis Art Museum, Museum Purchase 415:1943 in Gallery 236 This portrait presents a confident young man seated before an acid-green knotted drapery. A bearded man dripping with water reclines in the background, probably intended to represent an ancient river god. Beside him, an opened flower blossom supports a small female figure. Together the man and blossom represent the city of Florence, which is located on the Arno River, and has a name derived from the Italian word for flower. The portrait embodies the complex aesthetic of 16th-century Mannerism as seen in its strong color, the man’s elegant, elongated hands, and the unusual hues in the sky. The Mannerist style was grounded in artifice, that is, it emphasized artistic invention over the slavish imitation of nature. The obvious artificiality of the painting makes clear the artist’s abilities at rendering pleasing forms and surprising chromatic combinations

“What a place to run into Jordan Binnington!” was the teaser in today’s STL Daily. See alt-text…

Indeed—and the last track of the CD pokes at the anecdote! At the very, very end, words are had aimed at Sophie Gent… 😉

😁 She does a darned fine plot summary!
Sure that had to be nominated for an Ig Nobel prize that year?!
🤣🤣🤣 Rene Descartes was a drunken fart, I drink therefore I am!

Now, you cannot drop that and run…!
Oh, that piano! Technically the first one I laid hands on. Builder had quite the man cave up there—and based on the sheet music and books left behind, great taste.
Barn came with everything in it, including the piano, when Mum bought the place.
Love square din-ware! Seems…lighter, somehow.
We have no idea to this day how the builder in 1910ish got it up there—it was his place. Barn had a full clay tile roof, so only thing we can figure is it went in thru hayloft door by crane? He built mills & factories, so would’ve had the equipment
Mum was something else…!
You go, girlfriend! 😂
Boston Baroque dropping plots in 30 secs. Blink & you’ll miss oath, storm, AND emotional collapse. 👑 🌊 😬
“Fuor del mar” is basically, “I’m fine” sung at Olympic difficulty while our guy Idomeneo is absolutely *not* fine.

Summer din season is here early, and the bats are early, too—they were swooping around tonite.
In summer, Mum went by when bats were over the barn vs streetlights on for us to come home. Ours was only barn in semi-urban n’hood, & likely only one in state w/a Chickering sq grand on the 2nd level 🦇🎹
Nice!!!
Huh. Wonder if Mr MBA provided consulting services to Chad over at the #BSO lately. 🤔
Uh-uh. Nope, not even. WTF?!

I admire Schiff for taking a stand, but what a sad loss.
I just saw Philippe Jaroussky cancelled his NA tour, with the ensemble running into visa issues; there were likely unpublished sentiments involved, as well.
A minor plus is an excuse for travel to EU to see what we’re missing 😢
🙀wow, indeed!
O.M.G! That looks an AMAZING haul—and if you’re like me, you’ll still be wondering what was up that last aisle or nook you didn’t have time to get to…
