Leclair was one of the premier violinists in mid-century France, but even he had stages of improvement. The violin sonatas from his final opus, Book 4, are hard to beat, and these realizations of them are first rate. Sweet! 🤠

Fasch was a whiz with Orchestral Suites, though his employer had little use for them, he distributed them through his network of friends like Telemann and the Berlin & Dresden orchestras. A considerable cache was recently discovered, containing these.🤠

Very few contemporary composers could match Graupner's capability when it came to writing for the bassoon. Very few musicians can match Azzolini's capability when it comes to Baroque Bassoon. This album appears to buttress my assertions. 🤠

One of the finer reaizations of Mozart's wind ensemble music, ranging from the 5 Sextets from Salzburg to the Gran Partita, we see/hear another example of how his works just outstripped others of the same genre. The period winds here sound fabulous!🤠

Fux is mainly known for his church & choral music, as well as his (still in use today!) book on writing counterpoint, "Gradus ad Parnassum". But he also was highly regarded for his secular music, like these Trio & Quattro Sonatas & Sinfonias. 👍🤠

For those who fought in the Great HIP Wars, learning that a large faction of music fans believe that when Haydn specified 'Basso' in the first string quartets, he actually meant Basso (Violone), not Cello. AFAIK, this is the only album exploring this.🤠

Mannheim didn't only produce orchestral music, but also some fine chamber pieces, like these Quartets for 2 Clarinets, Horn & Bassoon by Tausch. One thing both genres had in common, though, is an abundance of very fine music for winds! 🤠

The Quiet Bach. The Bückeburg Bach. Sebastian's 3rd of 4 music writing sons may have been 'quiet', but he sure composed some nice music. This album spans from a 1750 'Baroque' Trio Sonata to a 1785 'Classical' Fortepiano Trio. Excellently realized. 🤠

Blavet was THE star flutist of his time, which was later in the first half of the century. There only remain a few opuses of his oeuvre, including these 6 w/BC. It's no wonder Telemann chose him to premier the Paris Quartets! This group can play them!🤠
