“This is the story of one much-loved tree in Vancouver — important to me and, it turns out, a lot of other people. It’s a story about how we lose big trees, not only here but around the world, and what’s lost when we do.”

Raccoon latrine update: the cameras went out last night with the power craziness, but I did catch some unusual birds at the feeder this morning. 😊
It’s springtime and I assume they’re looking for nesting sites. We live less than a mile from Lake Sammamish.
Woke up to this at 1am. Not sure if we need to call an electrician or the men in black. 😲
Seriously, wtf?? The switches wouldn’t work so we turned off the breakers and are waiting for an electrician.
This is for 30 days. Seattle is also getting hotter. We are not immune.
Speaking of raccoon latrines, now is a great time to call your representative and let them know how you feel about *things.*
I’ve set up a camera to watch. So far so good. I didn’t see any raccoons the first night.
Phase 3 raccoon latrine deterrent: borrow a cute dog. Let him pee all over the yard.
Phase 2 of raccoon latrine deterrent: a very, very large container of cayenne. I’ve sprinkled it around the trees where they were going.
Phase 1 of raccoon latrine deterrent (after careful cleaning): coffee grounds. Because we drink a lot of coffee.
Raccoons can carry roundworm and also, it’s gross. Cleaning has to be taken seriously. www.cdc.gov/parasites/ba...
I’m really torn. I have working to make my yard friendly to wildlife, HOWEVER I draw the line at a raccoon latrine! #nativeplants #gardenforwildlife

While I am feeling for my friends and family suffering through Santa Ana winds, I am very glad to see some mountain snow on the way!
Who, Kelsie?? That’s what the musical overlay is for, perhaps…
It’s always great to spend time at the Burke Museum, even when they tell me to be quiet with my air scribe so they can film this big dumb dinosaur. 😉

Looks a lot like Palm Canyon in Palm Desert, one of my favorite places to skip school in high school. 😊
It was gray and rainy this morning, and there were fewer birds recorded (10 total), with two new species (bushtit, fox sparrow).
Taken at our local elementary school - love the visual of the imagination that forests foster, over build playspaces
Yeah that makes sense!
I have been trying to figure out what to put a skull in for scanning, and now I have my answer. Home Depot bucket. Thanks!
True, and I still annoy my kids everyday with my excitement!
