Me watching some high fantasy shit: I would simply not be corrupted by the magical object. If it is actively harming you why don't you just put it down. Idiot
Me receiving psychic damage 23 hours a day from my phone: Ouuughhhh

This They Might Be Giants TONIGHT SHOW performance of "Birdhouse In Your Soul" from 1990 remains firmly lodged in my noggin thanks to the Tonight Show Band's full commitment and Doc Severinsen's incredible trumpeting... It took an already great song and made it transcendent.

Two more days until season finale for Murderbot. Feeling good about the show sticking the landing. Can only hope that Apple renews it immediately for five more seasons! #Murderbot #AppleTV

So not quick reads but recommended! #books #dansimmons #sci-fi #pilgrimsprogress #keats

These books take their time and take you on a lot of side journeys for different characters but so much of it was really a deep meditation on what it is to be human - especially relevant in our time as we grapple with the potential of AI to come.

Read Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion this year. Both different books in their own ways but come together as one big majestic apocalyptic fight for future of humanity. Never has Keats been more important to a sci-fi story!

The M&M store at the Mall of America has giant tubes of single color M&Ms. American innovation is alive and well 😂

Haven’t played a lot of video games in last two years. Just decided to give Civ VII a try - I don’t fully get what’s going on. Also not sold on mixing leaders and cultures. Xerexes leading the Inca? 🤷‍♂️

Finished The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman. Enjoyed the book quite a lot. I am left wondering what happened next for Collum. We need some threads for Collum speculation!

Holmes and Yoyo (TV Series 1976–1977) ⭐ 5.8 | Comedy, Crime, Sci-Fi 30m

And the robot does other weird things that might not even make sense with changes in technology.

My favorite one season wonder show of the 70s might be Holmes & Yoyo which I haven’t watched since I was barely alive watching it in the family room. So it almost definitely doesn’t hold up. But dumb silly show about a gruff old cop who gets a robot as a partner. The robot develops pictures! 😀

Played some board games this week! Table near by was playing a massive Game of Thrones one - looked like one session would take all evening (at least)

I guess spoiler? It’s not the only great thing about the novel but the way it frames a version of Narnia as both children’s book but also real in the world of the novel - me reading the book felt that moment as if my childhood self was sitting next to me.

The Magicians by @levgrossman.com is one of my favorite books. Anyone who read and reread and loved the Chronicles of Narnia probably has a soft spot for The Magicians.

I’ve been reading The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman. It’s an enjoyable tale set in the mythos of Camelot - a kind of emotional realism but otherwise fully embracing the magic of the setting.

John Cho! I actually liked the Cowboy Bebop live adaptation. Different than the anime but good in its own way. Disappointed that Netflix didn’t give it a second season

And look if you’ve missed out on @marthawells.com Murderbot diaries absolutely go right now and read All Systems Red. Just a brilliant character - a most human non-human protagonist.

Apple really has done some great sci-fi stories. Arguably best sci-fi streaming service right now?
