Shadowed Pawpaw flower (maroon) taken below with blurry oak trees in the background (taken April 10th)
Sensitive ferns and mayapple flower photo taken from ground level (taken on April 18) with house in the background and leaf debris underneath the plants
So looking back at my photos of pawpaw and mayapple from prior years they are usually blooming at the very end of April and this year they were blooming about two weeks earlier - that warm weather is certainly creating some havoc with the normal cycles #nativeplants #wildlife

I devoured the audiobooks again (Kramer and Reading) in 2019-2020 and while there are cringeworthy moments in the story, I overall really enjoyed my reread and will probably do it again in a couple more years now that I’ve seen the adaptation and read the Origins by Livingston #WoTSkies

This is a valid point: whenever you see this sort of high-pressure sales tactic turned on a technology, you can be CERTAIN that it's a fake—actually useful new tech sells itself!
And don't underestimate the effectiveness of FOMO as a tool in the hands of a con artist.

The Pokémon universe goes hard on ecology and climate science
The Pokémon franchise, including its recent game Pokémon Pokopia, is inspired by real animals and their ecology. It’s no surprise that so many scientists love to try and “catch ’em all”
My latest for @sciam.bsky.social is all about the real biology, ecology, and climate science that is used to create the world of Pokémon, and how scientists use it to teach science in the real world.
This is just about the most fun I’ve ever had interviewing anyone, and I hope you enjoy! 🧪🌎

It's International Dark Sky Week. Consider keeping your garden dark at night: artificial outdoor lighting negatively affects insects, birds, bats, and other small mammals, and it can even make your garden plants less productive. Some easy suggestions for your "moon garden": wapo.st/4tIrNpW (gift).

I was in a bookstore today. It is such a bummer how much shittier and less awesome covers have gotten - particularly in the sci fi and fantasy spaces.

They’re squeezing a lot in there - by the time you get to S3E4 you will be 🤯 about how much of the seemingly random stuff ties together 😉

How far into it are you? Have you seen the cold open to S1E7 yet? 👀 - my favorite scene from S1 but S2 has some great moments as well

I heard the new one from Pike is fantastic but I’ve held off listening because she hasn’t gotten past book 4 yet. Kramer might feel a little weird at first but he grows on you. Definitely might be easier to sink in via reading visually until you get to know the characters. Love Kate Reading too 👍

Avery Brooks as Cpt. Benjamin Sisko in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."
In 1993, "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" made a Black man the star of a major sci-fi franchise and his character was like the Platonic ideal of a loving father, a great cook, a man who uplifted others, who was kind and tolerant but MILITANTLY so, and who also had flaws like any other human. Hail Sisko

#WoTSkies would totally agree - the humor present in the books wasn’t much there in S1 but by the end of S3 the spirit of the story really felt like it was being conveyed even if the plot was a bit changed. Was really looking forward to a new interpretation. Costumes & acting were 🔥🔥🔥

There are examples of some shows having been saved. It’s really up to Sony. Remind me how many years it took Daredevil to get picked back up again? 🧐

Save The Wheel of Time – #SaveWOT Campaign
Join fans from around the world working to find a new home for The Wheel of Time. Help us show Sony and streamers the story deserves to continue. #SaveWOT
Did you watch the behind the scenes to see the challenges with S1 & S2? Huge changes to their original plans because of COVID and an actor leaving. I tend to think many of the issues were that + getting the world established. Were some weird choices but they deserve to continue the story saveWoT.com

From what I’ve read and seen they are fans of the source material but also maybe more motivated by making a profit and not necessarily organized. It’s a “I’ll believe it when I see it” situation and will probably depend on if they can get enough talented people attached to attract $$$
