A ★★★ review of Companion (2025) "Companion" is an amusing twist on a common theme. I won't tell you the theme as it's a spoiler, but suffice to say it was done before in films like "Ex Machina". I saw the film because I loved Sophie Thatcher in "Heretic", and indeed she is terrific here as is her co-star Jack Quaid. "Companion" does many of the horror tropes. 6 friends meet in a cabin in the woods, and things are not necessarily as they seem. Things happen. But, also, it's a mild horror film that leans into a bit of comedy, and never quite takes itself
