Instead, the Government have introduced watered down regulations (RPEEPs) that fail to keep Disabled people safe.
You can still request a PEEP under existing legal protections. Our PEEPs toolkit can help.

The Government are failing to learn the lessons of Grenfell. We say Disabled people deserve better.
Almost half of those who died in the Grenfell disaster (41%) were Disabled people. The subsequent inquiry recommended fire evacuation plans, called PEEPs (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans).
Andrew Lee & Raymond Johnson @ the #PowerUpTogether event today on the #IndependentLiving movement- achievements & challenges
The history & future of our collective peer support & action. Still so much to fight for - stop more of us falling into poverty, of being locked away, of losing independence!

✅The government wants to learn from lived experience: people with learning difficulties + autistic people. It wants to pay organisations to help
❌But key documents aren't in Easy Read, despite requests. So groups with the most lived experience are the least able to apply👎

Democracy in action! Yesterday we attended the @xbyxbromley local council election hustings. It was brilliant to see local Deaf and Disabled people quiz their candidates on issues that matter to them.

In response, we are launching a set of resources to:
- Explain why RPEEPs regulations do not provide adequate fire safety for Disabled people.
- Support Disabled people to request a PEEP now.
- Gather evidence about people’s experiences of requesting PEEPs.

Disabled people can still request a PEEP under existing legal protections, including the Equality Act 2010. However, many people are unaware of this or face barriers when trying to secure an evacuation plan.

Cartoon - white male in bed, on phone to a Work Capability Assessor depicted as a robot. Around the man is medication, dirty plate and glass and walking aid. He is looking out the window at people out dog walking. The man says "you can see from my medical notes that any activity causes me pain. I can have good days. I managed to take the kids to the park last week, but then I was bedridden for days." The robot replies "park? Sounds lovely" is that the part half a mile away? Do you push them on the swings?" the robot is ticking items on a form that say 1. Can walk over 100 meters 2. is physically active 3. Fit for work. The medical notes can be seen slipping off the end of the table.
Cutting Universal Credit is bad enough, but ignoring basic structural failings in the current Work Capability Assessment process make matters even worse.
Please help raise awareness!

We think it's vital that the review hears the experiences of Deaf and Disabled Londoners. If you've experienced crime and policing in London, you can make your voice heard.
Call for evidence: Three years after the Casey Review found widespread unacceptable behaviour in the Met, including shocking Disablism, the Fairfield Review wants to hear your experiences of the Metropolitan Police.
“We are disappointed to see underinvestment causing a programme that has historically been vital to disabled people’s ability to work instead hold back disabled people’s careers and put our financial security at risk.”

Svetlana and Laura from Inclusion London standing in front of a crowd of marchers on a London street. They hold a banner that reads "Inclusion London. Promoting equality for Deaf and Disabled Londoners"
Migrants and people of colour are demonised in the same way, by a vocal minority. The march showed that when we stand together, we are powerful. We don't have to accept a far-right future. We can and must build the future we all need.
A group of marchers including Rensa, Svetlana and Tracey from Inclusion London. Rensa is using a wheelchair and holding a sign that says "the future depends on you!"
We joined half a million people in London to march against the far right with @UKTogetherAll. Disabled people want to live good & independent lives no different from anyone else. But the media demonises us, and far-right ideologies threaten the lives we've built.

8 people smile and pose with copies of a report. Some are wheelchair users. The report is called "Locked Out: The Housing Crisis Facing Disabled People in Richmond" by RAID.
We joined @raidinfo.bsky.social for their Housing Forum! Our sessions have built up members' campaigning skills around their housing report. They've also helped us with our own housing research! This is just a snapshot of our work, supporting Deaf and Disabled People's Organisations across London.
National housing demonstration. Saturday 18th April 1pm Central London. Rent controls! Council homes not luxury flats! Tenants unite! Another housing system is possible. We must fight to end the exploitation and win back control over our homes. A photo of people shouting in protest in front of a tower block.
The national housing demonstration is also being called by: logos of the participating organisations. The government is putting landlords and developers before our right to a good home. We need to ramp up the pressure to end this rotten system. Join tenants from across the country in the streets on Saturday 18th April. Let's make housing affordable again!
Sky-high rents are forcing people out of their homes and destroying communities.
Another housing system is possible - but we need to stand together and fight for it.
Join us in central London on 18 April to demand rent controls and council housing now.

For those who can, we'll be with the @togetheralliance.bsky.social march against the far right this Saturday. But not all of us can protest without fear of reprisal + not all spaces are safe for all of us. We support intersectionality as a priority, not an afterthought, in everything we do.
