A bumblebee can only fly for about 40 mins between feeding. These amazing pollinating insects are being hit hard by widespread habitat loss. So each nectar-rich flower you plant in a windowbox or in your garden or community green spaces could be the pit stop that saves a bee 🐝

On day six of my advent calendar - a matchbox sized selection of seeds, berries, petals, lichen and snail shells - arranged like a box of confectionery, to illustrate the bounty we provide for wildlife, in gardening with the taste of our wild-kin foremost in our minds.

My 6th wild whimsy ~ Wilds assorted fancies! Our wild-kin have their own particular take on what constitutes confectionery. What’s tasty to them, is often toxic to us. But there’s something delicious in providing them with a bountiful selection of fancies here in our #WildlifeGarden #AdventCalendar

In the current game state, Andy was playing for fifth. Now Andy goes into final 6 with Genevieve, Rachel and Sam all supposedly “bigger threats” plus a huge resume point.

Maybe this backfires and he’s voted out but this gives him a shot to actually win. #survivor

Finally got to watch the probabilities scene on #survivor.

Andy did a very simple and reasonable analysis to claim it’s “remote” Kyle would win the next four challenges (6.25%).

The assumptions can be argued, but why it got so much pushback is fascinating and a case study in math communication.

A troop of unidentified mushrooms grow on a tree

A troop of unidentified mushrooms grow on a tree

A thousand mushrooms crowd to a keyhole,
This is the one star in their firmament...

Finding mushrooms is like discovering a mysterious treasure! No idea what any of them are though. Maybe I need to get an id book

A bit disconcerting when one of the world's largest moth species is attracted to your headlamp! Found this beautiful Hercules Moth in far north Queensland.

Circumstances led me to dig out this video of a great bustard grunting and belching.

So here it is, in the hope that great bustard belching will improve your Monday by a solid 18.7%.

Sound up!
