this isnt a setting without racism and xenophobia - the central structure is a colonialist empire - but its incredibly freeing (and easy!) as a worldbuilder to simply Avoid making insensitive/racist caricatures or drawing real-world race metaphor to fantasy species. the magic matters, "race" doesnt

1. it has to do with magic 2. it has no physical bearing on anything, just academic theories about magic and mortal bodies

best thing i ever did for my original setting lore was make mortal evolution include physiological traits like pointed ears, vibrant skin, fangs, horns etc without specifying different species or "races"
