🏳️ Friendly April Fools Day reminder: Life is hard enough without extra lies from people we trust. If deceiving people feels cute, maybe take those bullying urges to your therapist instead of making someone else's day worse ✌️

Each of us can make someone's day better. Let's do that part, yeah? 🫶

Me: Dogs were barking all night so I couldn't sleep.

Morgan the Dog: ✋"Not all dogs!"

Me: 🤔 obviously

Minneapolis. I am here.

To everyone, everywhere on the right side of history: I wish you so much peace in body, mind, and spirit. TY for what you do. I know you're weary.

For disabled folks like me, I know you're weary too. Thank you for staying. (h/t Mychal Threets)

Solidarity always, friends.

Yes I know that everything is unhinged right now. I find joy and comfort in these lights. I welcome your sharing.

Also, there are many different celebrations at this time that also involve light. Please apply the idea to your life as you wish.

Wishing each of you some moments of peace and love.

#NewArticle Have you ever asked someone a question and they assumed you were, well, doing something else? Rachael the Beloved wrote this up in order to share HER experience, and a very specific learning she did at some point.

Feeling grateful for my family. I can't hold my phone long enough to type out why, but I'm a very fortunate person.

Last night we decorated our always-up-not-always-decorated Christmas tree 🎄😁💕

🤦 Wish I spelled "Irish Jig" right in the OP

4 months ago 2 0 0 0

ICYMI, they updated the CDC website today to do "Vaccines do not cause autism, asterisk" and to say that they do. Letting a non-healthcare, non-scientist, conspiracy theorist cause this level of harm to the planet (as anti-vax momentum increases) is hard to watch.

Sincerely,
one autistic social scientist who hates this shitshow NOT for their own sake, but for the kids growing up *right now* whose ability to draw conclusions is being so mightily sidetracked by the shitshow.

See also: FFS, man. Calling things "scientific" while ignoring scientific findings serves nobody. And by diluting the foundational understandings of what the scientific method consists of, you are, truly, doing the most to harm the free thinking public.

Doing an Irish Gig Does Not Cause Autism*
*Scientific studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant dancing contributes to the development of autism. The rise in prevalence since the 1980s correlates with the rise in music videos for kids. We are launching studies into this matter.

As an active member of Veterans For Peace, if you want to "thank me for my service" please work for peace. Period.

Insulting a dangerous person with a medical diagnosis/disabilty term conveys that the danger IS the disabilty.

It's not. The danger is the dangerous person. Until you stop reproducing stigma about disabled people in your battles, you're just making life even harder for disabled people.

5 months ago 1 0 0 0

When you use disability terms to insult people, including when you use more childish adjacent ones like "crazy," you perpetuate harm to marginalized communities who've got nothing to do with whatever mess you've got going on.

5 months ago 1 1 0 0

⚠️ Someone you don't agree with is NOT blind or crazy or demented for being unaware or dangerous.

Blind people are not unaware and people with progressive memory impairment are not inherently dangerous.

Disabled folks are weary enough without your extra #Ableism thanks ✌️

I tend to not like the "superpower" framing personally, but if it works for you? Then I love that for you.

Autistic people can cope with disinformation by (1) seeking informational social support, which can help confirm reality, and (2) relying on personal sensory grounding, a return to what you know to be true from your own senses.

Autistic people can cope with disinformation by (1) seeking informational social support, which can help confirm reality, and (2) relying on personal sensory grounding, a return to what you know to be true from your own senses.

Disinformation can cause sensory overload for autistic people. The process begins with the emotional impact of broken trust due to propaganda. This leads to questioning of perceptions and epistemic mistrust.
