Key messages from my #rED24 talk yesterday.
1.Few things done well > lots of things done badly
2.Know what and who you are designing for.
3. Beware shiny things and ‘quick wins’
I don’t have a blog or website so full slides can be found on my LinkedIn.
Such a brilliant day at #rED24. Highlights for me where @bernardandrews.bsky.social and @kayshepherd.bsky.social’s talks. Lots of notes to go through!
So glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for coming! ❤️
Been looking forward to this from @kayshepherd.bsky.social! Great end to a brilliant day #rED24
Train picnic after a brilliant day at #rED24 so many amazing speakers. And LOTS to think about
Session 5- coaching, communities and consistency with @siobhanMered really interesting to hear about how coaching and practice is working with ECTs around professionalism and relationships
Session 4 looking at why data matters. Really making me reflect on how I can best use data to map professional learning as teachers impact the ‘data’ of pupils in different ways. They make progress in the classroom themselves at different rates. Does great data mean great teaching?!
Session 2 #rED24 Josh Goodrich, and Jon Gilbert. Making tacit knowledge explicit- removing luck and chance from developing expertise. Thinking about how to get our expert teachers to unpack and explain their craft.
Starting off my #rED24 day with @profcoe.bsky.social ‘why we need feedback more than we think’ huge implications for judging teaching and learning from lesson obs and self reflection. “Using video is the most powerful tool when getting a reality check.”
Early train but excited to be speaking at #rED24 today. Session 6 -Thinking about why sometimes professional development doesn’t quite hit the mark. Come say hi 👋
@WALKTHRUs_5 OnPoint No 3: Team Coaching.
Factors involved in team coaching.
Had a fab day with the wonderful E-ACT Primary Team in today’s strategy day.
Happy Wednesday. Excited to be on route to Birmingham for E-ACT Primary strategy day. Just KNOW my shoes will give me blisters - but kind of obsessed so wearing them anyway.
What a list!! I’ll be in K28 at the end of the day. Glad I’m in the last session - it will really let the imposter syndrome build up throughout the day 😂.
@jadegarratt.bsky.social - wouldn’t let me tag you 😁
When we are scared of failing - “
we find ourselves slowly descending into safe mediocrity rather than striving for excellence.” A really interesting piece

My favourite: “if you don’t know where you’re going, you might wind up someplace else”. Relatable to both the classroom but also so many endeavours we undertake in school, including professional learning.
I took the liberty of making a starter pack for all the speakers at #rED24 so people can follow as many of them and there are two feeds as well. please share go.bsky.app/6C8kW2C
At #rED24 I’ll be talking about why CPD doesn’t work - and how to fix it. Come say hi 👋
