We will continue to work with Baroness Casey and with Government to find solutions together โ both now and for the long term โ so that more people can access great social care that enables them to live their lives.โ
Baroness Caseyโs right to draw attention to low pay across the workforce and despite this, the fantastic support that is delivered. At Dimensions [we are non-profit] 94% of colleagues are paid at or above Real Living Wage, but maintaining that position year is an ever increasing challenge.
Too often commissioning does not support the delivery of consistent, high-quality support, and instead contributes to fragmentation, short-term decision making and instability for providers, the workforce and most importantly, the people who rely on care and support.
A female support worker helps a lady with short hair and glasses to shop for clothes.
โI welcome Baroness Caseyโs acknowledgment of the structural and strategic challenges that mean too few people can access great social care that enables them to live their lives."

What a busy December with shows, lights, trips, crafts, parties, food and, most of all, dancing!
๐
Merry Christmas to you from all of us at Dimensions, Discovery, Dimensions Cymru and Outreach3Way
Image of a hand drawn gift and fairy lights that says: Make your own traditions and agree your boundaries before visits and events. It's ok to eat foods you know. Don't be a paparazzi! Agree times for photos. Wrap gifts together or put them unwrapped in a bag to reduce tension. Plan time to recharge. Don't try to do it all!
๐ Christmas is a time for tradition but you can also make your own. People with learning disabilities and autistic people (and carers) can find it easily overwhelming with different routines and more socialising, lights, noise, smells and touch.
