I got to test this game in their studio back in the day and even then I though this has "The Room" vibes ;)
The game is based on the book that the ceo of the company wrote during his professional football career(?). He obviously had enough money to make his dream game and he did just that :)

Work on "gib system" continues. I am now experimenting with dynamic painting of the skin layer with particles (for something like dripping blood for example). ๐

Work on "volumetric gib system" continues. Added resistance to damage depending on proximity to bone.
Still need to work on effects on the outer shell (skin) :)

Thank you! Means a lot since Quake 3 / Doom 3 art inspires me since I was an teenager :)
Once we get to a point of playable I will let you know ;)
Action game where you evolve / build your own body and fight against robots and "post-human" zombies who also evolve and mutate. Very messy with procedural damage effects and growths spreading through the arenas ;)
Fingers crossed we can actually make it happen :P
Isn't it *this* guys head / helmet?
It is shown for like a second in old Doom 3 doc video (youtu.be/KUq3l0yYJYo at 4:44)
I always wondered what this dude (which I assumed was a robot/cyborg) will do in the final game (he wasn't in the final game at all) ๐
Hello, long time since I last posted :)
I am trying to figure out / hack a system that would add an actual, procedural volume of *MEAT* inside characters. ๐ฅฉ

I'd say Mortal Kombat 9 from 2011 - The only fighting game I actually somewhat learned to play (quite simple combos and straight forward mechanics). There is a shit ton of extras in that game to unlock so perhaps that would satisfy your meta needs...
Robot and post-human concept art for Gorebone.
Got contracted for some concept art for a game called Gorebone. Very fun to work on.

Fond memories of when I got into trouble by skipping classes as a 12 year old to go to friends house and play Postal 2 ๐
Another test of "layered" approach to our in game characters for some fancy gibbing effects ๐

Showcase of damage system on a zombie character with scattershot type deep wounds
Showcase of damage system on a zombie character with a large chunk of skin and flesh removed
Showcase of damage system on a zombie character with a big wound in the middle
A very early "proof of concept" look at procedural damage system for our game ๐ค

Reminds me of when I was playing the first Red Faction game on-line in 2001 (my first multiplayer experience in fact) and seeing a guy with a name DUREX and thinking "wow that's a cool nickname" ๐คช
Metal Eden out in May
I wouldn't call the thing I am working on a boomer shooter, but a detailed gib system is one of the goals. :P
It just uses unreal engine Control Rig with FullBody IK node with a very basic setup and controlling the IK goals from an anim blueprint :) There is a lot of available examples explaining it way better than I would, like here for example:

A quick procedural animation concept :)
The goal is to make something unique ("weird" ?) and messy ;)

Used morph targets to achieve an effect of an evolving creature in Unreal Engine. Material transition still needs a bit of work, but I'm happy with the effect so far. Trying to keep an hint of an "retro-ish" aesthetic
