Excellent question! Out west we also have miles of roads and RR tracks across open desert along which solar panels can be built as well as sports stadiums with overhangs and roofs covering upper decks or the whole playing surface - PLENTY of non-obtrusive spaces on which solar panels can be added.

As a tech historian I have interviewed dozens of engineers from the 70s & 80s responsible for the cellphone, VCRs, WiFi, BT, PCs, the Internet, GPS, etc. 90%+ worked for NASA, NASA adjacent cos, or were inspired by NASA to be engineers. NASA is the birthplace of today’s and tomorrow’s modern tech.
