Night night little kiln โค๏ธ A little gas flame over night to keep the pots inside all warm and toasty; tucked up getting their beauty sleep ready for the firing to begin in the morning. I'm off to bed too - busy days and nights ahead.

Lighting the wood kiln next week. So today is all about making sure there's dry wood in the right place. Packing the kiln from tomorrow - hoping this heavy rain will have passed through by then!

In a tunnel kiln the front pots nearest the fire get the best colours on their surface. At the back, I'm going to use the River Gravel glaze. It does different things depending on the clay used, how thick it is and how much oxygen is in the kiln.

'Leather hard' pots:the consistency chocolate. The pot is finished, so slips and glazes can now be applied (I don't do Biscuit firings before glazing). Leather hard pots just look so lush....

Ooooh, I love these - would hapily home the red one!
I took a deep breath, mustered my 'Independant Woman' spirit & changed the pedal cable & drive belt on my Shimpo. It has the habit of not stopping completely when you take your foot off the gas. I managed it! And .... new parts have made absolutely no difference to its bad habits!
This week's making:
Fridge Door Jugs - because milk and juice keep better in a ceramic jug: dimensions to fit the fridge door; capacity 2pints/1litre.
Oil/vinegar bottles.
