The most efficient & effective way to help someone is to understand need, & then meet need.
Understanding need requires good quality listening. Meeting need requires services being available & smooth movement between services.
I think this is the best way to think about efficiency & effectiveness.
Good analysis of what needs to happen to ensure adoption of cancer care innovations but 🥱 so disappointing that the piece implies innovation only happens in diagnosis & treatment. There’s a lot in the Cancer Plan about #LivingWithAndBeyondCancer - what about innovation for long term quality of life?
Celebrating small wins is a powerful part of Supported Self Management—especially when living with a long-term health condition.
It helps shift focus from “what I can’t do” to “what I am doing,” which builds confidence, motivation, and resilience over time.

According to the Women's Health Strategy, any funding withheld due to poor experiences under new patient power payments would be used for targeted improvements to the same service. So not really withheld at all. That seems less powerful than the rhetoric suggested.
🚨6 DAYS LEFT TO APPLY for the Excellence in Clinical Audit Awards Innovation Award!
Innovation doesn’t have to mean something completely novel. Sometimes, it’s about doing something slightly differently - with meaningful outcomes for patients.🌟

A pity this @jama.com review didn’t include or even mention the chronic diarrhoea experienced by some people after cancer treatment 😕
Highly recommend the @britsocgastro.bsky.social guidelines gut.bmj.com/content/74/7... which cover all acute and chronic GI problems during or after cancer treatment
New paper considers what we should aim for when addressing uncertainty from serious illness.
Important elements are finding security together by reframing uncertainty and moving forward through parallel planning.
Great work Rachel & team!

The image shows a person with brown hair smiling wearing a blue shirt in front of a purple background, with text: 'Simply getting EPRs into place was never going to deliver significant benefits by itself. These benefits will come only from a concerted effort to develop effective ways of using them.'
The NHS has invested billions in getting electronic patient records (EPRs) through the door, but comparatively little in making them work well.
In this new blog, Alex Lawrence argues this will have to change if the health service is to reap the rewards of digitisation ⬇️

Grateful to the many healthcare professionals helping improve recognition of #PelvicRadiationDisease (PRD). Using the term PRD helps validate patients’ experiences and supports better long-term care.

Reminder to self as I see some patients again after a few days off work... people with chronic health conditions don't get a 'day off' from having to cope, to manage, to think about how they are, how their treatment's going... important to remember this.
