Excited to get this preprint online, work with our CAR -Ms in glioblastoma models!

Congrats Mark! Excited to read it!
Great work out of the Morrissey lab! In our early 2D phagocytosis time lapses, we could only really see "whole cell eating" when cells were splitting from one another so the mitotic vulnerability makes sense.
Congrats Janet!!! Well deserved!

Joanna, Hanna and I worked quite a bit on this piece and I hope you find it useful
Many thanks to @jcellsci.bsky.social for publishing it
On Thursday April 10, Julio Cesar Fierro Morales @juliofierro.bsky.social (Roh-Johnson lab) will defend his thesis entitled "Paxillin-Centric Regulation of Focal Adhesions During Dictyostelium Discodeum Migration" 2pm in HSEB 1730!
Lewelyn Dixon,64, a permanent resident with a valid Green Card since 1975,was detained by ICE. She immigrated from the Philippines at age 14 & works as a laboratory technician at the Univ. of Washington. The family has not received any information from ICE regarding the reasons behind her detention.

“Pursuant to this Supplemental Guidance, there will be a standard rate of 15% across all NIH grants for indirect costs.” 😮
Just a devastating Friday night news dump. #scicomm #academicaky
A new mechanism for cancer-induced immune evasion. We knew about cancer cells hijacking mitochondria. Now we learn about how their mitochondrial transfer to T cells impairs the tumor immune response.

On Thurs Dec 19, Michael Stewart (from the lab of Matt Miller) will defend his thesis entitled "Mechanism and Regulation of Stu2:Ndc80c Association." 10am in HSEB 1730!
I've tried to convince her to move over, hopefully over ASCB y'all can get her to make the switch!
It's that time of year. Confocal + Christmas = Xmas Tree, Ymas Tree, and our favorite Zmas tree. #microscopy #confocal #imaging
While I won't be at #CellBio2024 this year, several folks in the Roh-Johnson lab will be presenting interesting data from all facets of the lab: Focal adhesions (Julio Fierro, Kara Jones), Macrophage Polarization (Sophia Varady), and Chimeric antigen receptor macrophages (Minna herself!) Go say hi!
Are you a San Diego local or coming to #CellBio2024? Come join our very special #SciArt Show & Reception on Dec 17, bringing together amazing researchers and artists who have been inspired by the wonders of biology. Please spread the word and RSVP here: beatascienceart.com/artshow2024/
This thread is about HUMAN IMMUNE SYSTEM
Its primary function is to defend the body from pathogens, which are disease-causing organisms such as viruses and bacteria. Tissues, cells, and proteins in the immune system work together to achieve this function. @jama.com

For #microscopymonday, I present the mesmerizing movement (over 6 hours) in a maximum intensity projection of a melanoma spheroid with cells expressing a membrane marker (magenta = Lck-mScarlet).
Grant agency: "In the end, despite some initial enthusiasm, the panel was not convinced [...], and expected that the impact in the field is likely to be low."
Despite evidence to the contrary, funding bodies remain confident they can predict the success of a project.
