I used AI. It worked. I hated it. I used Claude Code to build a tool I needed. It worked great, but I was miserable. I need to reckon with what it means.

I appreciated this article by Michael Taggart, on the temptation to use some of these coding tools and the pitfalls, from the POV of an experienced software engineer.

This is why it's important to fight these issues collectively rather than at the individual level.

I'm more of a design in the browser person but recently I decided I'd give ❌FigmaπŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ another try because I wanted some quick component designs for a project that I could reference.

So I opened @penpot.app βœ”οΈπŸ‘and started working. It's great! Strongly recommend! Great tool!

But also, and seriously, what's the best sending email solution these days? Just need to send a few dozen a week for now if that. All the options look the same - what's good and what sucks?

Oh and sending notification/call to action type emails on cron or server action. Not newsletter in this case.

I love how every time I see this I feel like it's from 2020. It's like a very positive social media post that's not disintegrating our psychological condition.

Nationalized grocery stores is bonkers. That's way too socialist to gain many votes. I mean that just seems like political kryptonite IMO.

Cheap rent is essential to a solid arts community. MTL used to have it and thus had both.

Yet never has so much been seen, so precisely, by so many people who understand so little of what they are seeing. A system can tell you where a man is. It cannot tell you what his death will mean for a nation. Such systems are trained on behavior, not on meaning β€” they can track what an adversary does but not what he fears, honors, remembers or would die for.
This is the recurring illusion of overequipped leaders: Because they can map the battle space, they think they understand the war. But war is never merely a technical contest. It is shaped by grievance, sacred narrative, the memory of past humiliations and the desire for revenge. Those are not atmospheric complications added to an otherwise technical enterprise. They are what the war is about.

Great post. Couldn't agree more. Real quick: why do you have your post available as markdown too? Curious about this practice as I've seen it elsewhere. Do people download it? Thx for the great content, site and so on.

The Old Internet is Still Here The β€œold” Internet isn’t gone, our expectations have changed.

Star Trek: The Next Generation, possibly the best television show ever, is not about spaceships shooting lasers at each other, it is about a man who represents the best of us trying to teach his robot son to be human while debating whether humans even deserve to exist with his best frenemy, God.

iTunes is the great example of this. Or perhaps Spotify. Either way iPhone led to apps that meant many many people got music from the same place/experience. Glad there's push back on this from the youths.

Is it correct that through back links to a single original record you could create an entire collection to query with constellation and thereby create a CMS or like a wiki for say standard site docs?

4 days ago 0 0 0 0

I think this means that inlay components on the protocol could become an alternative to npm installs for component libraries. Or I suppose an npm package could be a library that points to component records. I'll need to dig in, but what a project!

Nice! Lol maybe killed my standard site components project though but we'll see πŸ˜‚πŸ‘

Sounds like any ssr'd component could leverage the library inlay builds on the protocol - build in Inlay - render wherever/however you want

(For anyone else, Dan mentioned this in the talk I think)
