Now this is just the basics; there are actually two types of clauses (independent and dependent) and many different types of phrases (participle, prepositional, appositive, etc.). 3/4

Examples:

I got up and I ran. — Two clauses separated by “and.”

I got up, running to the door. — A clause followed by a phrase. 2/4

This is how I feel when I see people say "wonder" when they mean "wander." Those are different words!!!!

Yep, I try to avoid editing mystery and thriller genres for the same reason.

Knowing different genres and audiences can help me offer edits that align with a reader’s expectations and improve their reading experience.

As an editor, it’s important to understand genre conventions. A style choice that flies in fantasy might not work in literary fiction or nonfiction.

She's an amazing writer! I am almost halfway through the book and I have been thoroughly entertained and enchanted since page one. I have zero criticisms of this book. It's like it was written for me! Most here have probably read it, but I cannot praise what I've read so far highly enough! I've laughed out loud numerous times and have had a smile on my face for most of it. I think it is especially because Miss Percy is "of a certain age" (as am I) and so I identify with her plight in general. I just cannot get over how much I love the writing and voice. I'm going to read some of Quenby Olson's Regency romances because I like her writing so much. Anyway, {Miss Percy's Pocket Guide (to the Care and Feeding of British Dragons) by Quenby Olson} Not sure if I did that right, but I tried.

I need you to know that one of the best things you can do for an author you love is to talk about their books.
