Our PhD student Kennedy Orwa, who studies applications of AI to health care, was hastily deported today to Kenya along with his 13-year-old son without opportunity to speak to legal counsel.
King 5 reports that he held a valid visa that was rescinded without explanation.

I definitely get that the times had been pretty awful about trans coverage. I don’t pay for them myself, I get access through my school.
While we were filming Ken Jennings mentioned he had an 89% buzz in success rate!!!
An email with the subject “Hello from New York Times Games! Your streak” the body of the email reads “Hi Kimberly, My name is Jordan Cohen and I work on the communications team at The New York Times. I work very closely with The New York Times Games team. I watched last night's episode and heard your story about losing your Crossword streak...so someone was INDEED watching and listening! We would love to learn a little bit more about what happened and how we might be able to restore your streak! We also care deeply about stats and streaks and want to make sure your hard work is recognized. Additionally, we'd love to send you some Crossword swag. What is the best mailing address for you? Many thanks! Jordan”
A little update for those who watched me on @jeopardyofficial.bsky.social…yes, the New York Times did reach out!!
Thank you!!! I agree, it is great to have representation on Jeopardy!!
Still kicking myself for not buzzing in on time for that Euclid one!
Fun fact, the NYTimes actually reached out to me yesterday!!!
As someone who faced Jamie in yesterday’s episode, I can confirm he is very good and also a really nice guy
Hope to see you there!!!

I got an email from a student, and they signed off with "calculators and graphs, [student name]" instead of, like, sincerely or best. And it was so sweet. ☺️
So maybe this is a sign I need to start getting into PreTeXt
I think I ran into issues where I hadn't defined the pdf file name or author name, and those led to issues with it not being tagged. No idea how I'll make things work with beamer going forward, but for now I think this will work for basic pdfs! Thank you for the help!
Just updated it!!! It was 2024.
😭😭😭
Also yes I am using LuaLaTeX
I'm following the directions here, but am still getting my documents are not up to accessibility standards

I am trying to make pdfs I've created from TeX more accessible, as per ADA Title II. So far, my pdfs seem to keep being labeled as "untagged". But I've included a header with the metadata, turned tagging on, defined the tagging setup, and used the tagpdf package. Any ideas what I'm missing???
Black and white portrait of Emmy Noether standing. She is in her early-to-mid twenties. Noether wears a long, dark skirt with a white blouse that has high shoulders. A dark belt with a shiny buckle is cinched around her waist. Her hair is pulled back, and she is looking slightly down and to the right of the photographer.
Emmy Noether was born #OTD in 1882.
She made groundbreaking advances in abstract algebra, but is probably best known for her eponymous theorems articulating the deep connection between symmetries and conserved quantities in physics. 🧪 ⚛️ 👩🔬

Photo of Kim standing at a Jeopardy! podium with Ken Jennings! Kim is wearing a bright coral weather with a black blazer.
I’m going to be on Jeopardy! Catch me on Jeopardy Tuesday, March 31!
Selfie of Kim, who is drinking from a Jeopardy! mug. She has thick dark hair and is looking off in the distance. In the background you can see a few plants.
So I’ve been keeping a bit of a secret….
Hot damn that was fast today!

Just to ensure relative primeness, but you’re right that it’s probably not needed. Still should work though.
It’s relevant more often than you’d think 🤣
I actually brainstormed over this with my colleagues today and we came up with p(1) and p(q) where q is a prime bigger than p(1). Then take that output base p! (Excited, not factorial)
