I don’t have children and one of my top 3 red button issues is that children should get free, substantial food at school
24 hours to go...
See you here at 2pm tomorrow?

I’ve been taking my medications at a different time of day and I think it’s helping me.
Usually have a hard time with audiobooks, but Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman has really been hitting. Pairing particularly well with reading stories from Hellions by Julia Elliott too.
Glad to see Hellions on here and just bought A Guardian and a Thief!
Oh so Marcus Kliewer is going to freak me out AND break my heart with The Caretaker? Cool cool cool. #horror
Text from The Caretaker by Marcus Kliewer. Circled text: Or at least, they weren't hiring anybody like me. I couldn't blame them. I was never built for customer service. Despite all my best efforts to appear happy, likable, and highly employable, people always thought I was mad about something. It felt like I had a big sticker permanently plastered to my forehead, Sharpied scrawl reading: "Fuck off."
This book might get me, or at least is the Universe talking to me tonight.
I cleared out the bottom of my closet and I have an old shelving unit downstairs that I’m going to stick in there. Optimizing space.
God help me I need another bookcase
Elaine Castillo with her dog
Christoper Buehlman and his cat
A couple of the best author photos I’ve seen. 😆
Okay I am already knee deep into it and I am obsessed. It’s great.
Moderation by Elaine Castillo, A Guardian and a Thief by Megha Majumdar, and A Beast Slinks Towards Beijing by Alice Evelyn Yang
Bought some books from the Women’s Prize longlist.
They need to stop publishing books until I’m caught up reading them all.
This is the best poetry month I’ve ever had.
This is a really interesting profile of Lena Dunham and her new memoir Famesick: www.theguardian.com/culture/2026...
The Best of Gene Wolfe and The Caretaker by Marcus Kliewer
Doing something where I read a new book and a backlisted book. Today’s choices:
The Way Disabled People Love Each Other by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha
Another most anticipated of the year #poetry #poetrymonth
The Artisans by Madeleine Thien
A tiny book from a fave:
I’m coming at Lena Dunham’s memoir from someone who has never seen any of her stuff but is very interested in what she says/how she copes with chronic illness.
they should invent a recovery that's linear
Ohhhh and Claire Oshetsky!
Favourite author discovery by far this year is Jowita Bydlowska, I’ve been gobbling up her books.
The Living Stones by Ithell Colquhoun and Becalming by Aga Maksimowska
I read Goose of Hermogenes years ago and have been meaning to get The Living Stones. Helen Humphreys praised Becalming so I thought I’d pick it up.
Also, Pizza Before We Die: An Eyewitness Account in Gaza by Hassan Kanafani
Oh it turns out that vanquishing the college student who uses they/them in their email signature is not bringing you the fulfillment that you hoped for? You are still working in your crappy and unfulfilling job, paying a mortgage you now can't afford, and dealing with your annoying kids... I see.
Dracula, Bram Stoker, translated into Irish by Seán Ó Cuirrín, Oifig Díolta Foillseacháin Rialtais, 1933. Design: AóM (Austin Molloy). John Moore/Little Museum of Dublin

Honestly I think this whole approach to tying students’ grades to their attendance is the wrong one. I had the same problem in high school before I switched to alternative school. There need to be greater accessibility measures.
Oh gosh, it’s rough out here, isn’t it? Just bought Polyamorous Love Song!
