Happy to share scHiCAR, an ultra-high throughout (millions of cells), low cost (5 cents/cell including NGS), and trimodal platform for integrated single-cell level analysis of mRNA, open chromatin, and 5-kb resolution looping with ground-truth data the same individual cell.
Congratulations Jamie
I’m reading George Saunders “A swim in a pond in the rain”, which includes lessons from his writing course (he analyzes short stories from Russian masters like Chekhov and Turgenev). As always, I find everything relevant also to science (how to write or judge an article in this case) For example👇

Darwin's regrets:
"If I had to live my life again I would have made a rule to read some poetry and listen to some music at least once every week.. The loss of these tastes is a loss of happiness, and may possibly be injurious to the intellect and more probably to the moral character"

Conrad Hal Waddington was born OTD in 1905.
His “epigenetic landscape” is a diagrammatic representation of the constraints influencing embryonic development.
On his 50th birthday, his colleagues gave him a pinball machine on the model of the epigenetic landscape.

Back then, it took almost 40 years for his work to be discovered, and even today science communication remains flawed. We must get better at finding and evaluating science and remember that major discoveries may emerge from non-prestigious institutes and appear in non-glamorous journals.

We need to do more to find effective treatments for leptomeningeal metastasis from solid tumors but this commentary from our team shows we are making some progress as a field!

'Using a genome-wide in vivo CRISPR screen, we identified phosphodiesterase 5 & its substrate cGMP as key modulators of DC migration. Advanced tumours disrupted cGMP synthesis in DCs to decrease their motility, while PDE5 perturbation preserved the cGMP pool to restore DC migration'

This image of a paediatric brain shows collagen (in green), which is a key part of the ECM, with healthy brain (in pink and purple). Researchers hope that targeting components like this that surround a tumour could open new pathways for immunotherapies to better reach and attack cancers.
A study has found a promising new way to attack high-grade gliomas (HGG), by targeting the cells surrounding a tumour.
The brilliant findings, led by Pofessor Misty Jenkins, Zoe Day
and Dr Ryan Cross are now published in Nature’s npj Precision Oncology.

It seems that only the science community is noticing that NIH and NSF budgets are cut 40% and 55% in the budget bill, respectively. If you live in Maine, West Va, Pennsylvania, Alabama, or Louisiana, CALL YOUR SENATOR as they could make a difference. See below.

This would be a great time for everyone to be cool when reviewing manuscripts and *not* request $25,000 worth of new experiments that don’t substantially advance or validate the study...
