Obsessed with the idea that Pope Leo got up on that Papal Plane and legitimately said the equivalent of Taylor Swift's infamous "I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative."
Posts by Annie Selak
Last week @annieselak.bsky.social was on PBS NewsHour to discuss one year of Pope Leo. Moderator Nick Schifrin asked the panelists if they thought Leo would become more outspoken about moral / political matters. Three of the panelists said no; he’s soft-spoken. Annie said yes. Hats off to Dr. Selak.
As a mystics fan, I love that we have number 51 for the 51st state #wnbadraft
Text bubbles that say: Front yard looks nice. Wrong yard. Ha ha.
I got this text from my elderly neighbor.
She absolutely eviscerated me.
Everything in college sports is a mess. We need a do over. And my proposal might be absurd but it is no more absurd than Tennessee having no returning players or UCLA being in the Big Ten.
What about private schools? Here's where it gets fun. Notre Dame could pull from Midwestern Catholics. Some students will have more choices than others. That's ok! So like a women's basketball player in Chicago could choose ND, Illinois, DePaul or Northwestern (she will obviously choose ND)
Every university should only be able to recruit from their location/background. So in this men's basketball final, it should be a team of Michiganders vs a team of people from CT. #ncaa #marchmadness
I have a plan to fix the NCAA. No really, hear me out.
We can all agree that conferences are a mess. I think we need a clean slate with brand new conferences. That's not a new idea though. But stick with me
Happy to be on Compass Points to discuss Pope Leo!
The only time I will cheer for men's sports is for Santa Clara. And for the first time since 2005, I'm cheering for them again! #marchmadness #gobroncos
I just asked AI to proof read something for me and it said...
"There has never been a Pope Leo XIV"
So that's a fun AI twist
As the U.S celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, current trends and forces assault our rights and freedoms and threaten to destroy our democracy. I joined hundreds of faith leaders speaking out for democratic renewal. Sign now at acalltochristians.org
My children think the SuperBowl is the Parrots versus the Seahorses.
I know this sounds like a made up social media parenting post. I swear it is real. #superbowl
The biggest emotional rollercoaster of my life was rejoicing with my children about Taylor Swift's engagement and then having to tell them that they would not be the flower girls

We all universally agree that MSP is the superior US airport, right?
Yesterday I was on a panel about Pope Leo XIV, hosted by @icjsbaltimore.bsky.social. It was great to discuss the new pope and speculate wildly with Heather Miller Rubens and @annieselak.bsky.social. You can see the whole discussion here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV2T...
I have recently learned that I picture Phoebe Waller-Bridge as the main female character in all fiction books I read.
I highly recommend this to others.
One more time for the people in the back*: Republican and Democrat views do not map onto Catholicism. Pope Leo XIV isn't advancing a Republican agenda by meeting with JD Vance. I explained this on WTVU yesterday morning:

My hometown was the filming location of "cool as ice." As in the Vanilla Ice movie. Remains our proudest achievement.
New Orleans genealogist Jari C. Honora became curious about the French-sounding last name “Prevost” soon after Pope Leo XIV’s first address. A look into the pope’s ancestry revealed that many of his maternal ancestors were Creoles of color who lived in New Orleans.
Strong agree. And from his blessings and homilies, he's a beautiful writer and I can't wait.
