Today's completely unexpected find: an ad from the one and only time I saw the New York Dolls, in Lisner Auditorium at George Washington University in Washington, DC, 1973. #NewYorkDolls #DavidJohansen #JohnnyThunders

Four members of the band the Dream Syndicate onstage: two guitars, drums, and bass.

Saw the Dream Syndicate last night, and this was NOT a band of aging rockers on a perfunctory tour behind an archival re-release. These guys were ON FIRE. Two sets: the first of new material they've been recording for the last few years and the second a scorching run through of the Medicine Show LP.

Cool! Recognized this as soon as I scrolled past his face. Was just there a few weeks ago. I hope you’re going to some of the other awesome art environments in Wisconsin!

The Queen Of Eyes (2025 Remaster), by The Soft Boys from the album Underwater Moonlight (45th ANNIVERSARY REMASTER)

Really digging the reissue of the Soft Boys' Underwater Moonlight, especially "Queen of Eyes," where they damn near out-Byrds the Byrds. #softboys #robynhitchcock

Damn. I had no idea. The only time I saw Blondie, they opened with the as-yet-unreleased “Dreaming” and I was just floored.

They weren't slouches the other time we saw them, either, when they blew Blondie off the stage at Merriweather Post Pavilion.

I got to see Rockpile twice, I've heard a lot of live tapes, and I've seen a ton of videos, but my god, I don't think I've ever heard them sound this great. Dig especially "Switchboard Susan." Go Terry Williams! #rockpile #nicklowe #daveedmunds www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kSI...

Surprised you haven't gotten any grief from the Peter Green contingent, but hey, you won't hear it from me, either—my favorite Fleetwood Mac album is Kiln House.

Yeah, you're correct. The second one is a former restaurant, part of the Red Barn chain from the 60s and 70s.

The cover of Hitchcock's book is text that reads: Robyn Hitchcock 1967 How I Got There And Why I Never Left A Memoir

Happiest of birthdays to Robyn Hitchcock. I loved his book 1967: How I Got There and Why I Never Left. Mostly an evocative memoir of his boarding school days and his concurrent discovery of the pop music of the time. The couple of cameos by Brian Eno are particularly amusing.

I have one of those annoying car/iPhone combos where every time I reconnect the phone, it reverts my playlist to the first song alphabetically. Super glad I put Robyn Hitchcock's Black Snake Diamond Role on my phone, because now, at least, I get to start each day with the song "Acid Bird."

So sorry to hear that the last Doll has left the stage. I got to see the New York Dolls exactly once, at Lisner Auditorium at George Washington University in Washington, DC, on Friday, Dec. 14, 1973. Pic below on the cover of Hype fanzine is from that show. RIP David Johansen.

Sage words that I agree with. The 1st 1/3 did a great job of getting around not having any footage. But then wait--they broke up already? The Jerden album sucks? No one outside the PNW ever heard of them? And that Shangri-Las story is pointless filler. Still made me get out their records, though.
