False alarm. Same name, same year, and same area, but he's no relation. I found a newspaper article where the murder was believed to be an IRA attack on RIC household (the son named in article was RIC).
Image of death record. My 2nd great grandfather in middle row. Cropped to show Male, Married, 69 years Farmer, Murdered on the morning of ____, 4.23 and died from gunshot wounds inflicted. __________ unknown. Leitrim. ______ denotes illegible.
I'm still on this geneolgy kick and found the death cert of 2nd great grandfather on paternal side. He was murdered ๐ฒ
I cant make out what the last line is. Something something unknown.
I, for one, love the crazed killer animals genre of movies. More! More!

The loss of 22 episode seasons means we're losing out on the time honored tradition of "episode in which recurring character is suddenly turned evil via MacGuffin and now the actor gets to have fun"

Janey, we could be related yet ๐ All my ancestry is Roscommon, Leitrim, Sligo. Too bad our records only go back to 1901 (vast majority of earlier data was destroyed in a fire)
I'm going to try dig into it more. I'm assuming they died because you'd think a son would've taken ownership of the land, but my great grandfather acquired it upon marrying the daughter.
Really interesting about your name. Wonder if phonetically the Irish version gives a G sound
Another thing that has popped up is the modernisation of surnames in the last 100yrs.
From Beirne to Byrne, Connellan to Conlon, Coinn to Quinn.
It's brilliant. Families with 6 or more kids back then. Endless hours trying to crosscheck them all between the 1901, 1911, and 1926 records.
Found my great-grandmother's maiden name in the 1926 census. Have now located her family both in the 1911 and 1901 census.
In 1901, she had 6 brothers. In 1911, she had no brothers, and her father was a widower. The poor family, what happened to them in those 10yrs? #Census1926
Happy birthday to you ๐ฅณ

Oop, I just opened the app. The horrors await.
Are you only searching in a certain county? My grandfather wasn't in the family home during the census... I found him as a "servant" in the next county over on the night of count.
everyone in Leitrim has the same first and last name ๐คก #Census1926
