Last summer, a large accessible playground and park was opened on the former site of the Fernald Developmental Center in Massachusetts. It's drawn a lot of visitors from all around because there are so few accessible play spaces. (And yeah, mixed feelings about turning *Fernald* into a play space.)

Maybe everyone could show their love of publicly sharing books by running to the library. Boston has a very nice one on Copley Square.

A black fluffy cat with big expressive eyes looks at the viewer. In the first panel, the cat says, “I’ve noticed something quite special about you…” In the second panel, with even bigger eyes and holding a small heart, it continues, “You can become more of who you want to be, at your own pace.”

I knew Bannon was A Problem, but what helped me understand how he operates was Alyson Klayman's 2019 documentary _The Brink_. That he would be so open about his evil intentions just clarified that he wasn't worried anyone could stop him.

I bet the prosperity gospel fascists understand it: God rewards virtue with money, so having less money than your parents is a marker not just of failure but of sin.

screencap of a tweet with a photo at the bottom of JD Vance giving a talk, gesturing smugly with his hands

Eric Daugherty • @EricLDaugh • 1h
• JD VANCE RESPONDS TO POPE LEO:
"When the Pope says that God is never on the side of those who wield the sword - there is more than a THOUSAND year tradition of Just war Theory."

"In the same way that it's important for the vice president of the United States to be careful when I talk about matters of public policy, I think it's very, very important for the pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology."

"And I think that one of these issues here is that there has been - if you're going to opine on matters of theology, you've got to be careful, you've got to make sure it's anchored in the truth, and that's one of the things that I try to do, and it's certainly something I would expect from the clergy, whether they're Catholic or Protestant."

I’ve given this a great deal of thought, trying to come up with the perfect joke for this moment, and this is what I have so far -

POPE LEO: our religion teaches that this war is bad

VANCE: wow, who died and made YOU head of the Catholic Church??

POPE LEO: well, you should know, you were there

The same person as in the previous photo, but he's twisting his lips to the side and gesturing with his hand. He looks exasperated and resigned.

The photographer sat in the driver's seat of a Jeep and took a photo looking down at their legs. Their light pink trousers are smudged with a streak of dirt.

The backs of the seats in the back of the Jeep are folded down. There's a black backpack and a yellow piece of gear I think is a camelpack for carrying water.

A quote printed in white and yellow text on a black background is attributed to @GunnelsWarren.

They want you to believe that some undocumented immigrant making less than $8 an hour picking tomatoes is to blame for all your problems, while 5 billionaires are racing to become trillionaires by replacing your job with a robot. Wake up and fight back.

A person is modeling a crocheted (I think) balaclava that looks like Cthulu. It is made of bright green yarn and has a thick brow ridge over the eyes and a big mess of curly, free-hanging tentacles concealing the lower half of the face. All that is visible of the person is their eyes and glasses, a hint of light-colored skin around their eyes, and a zippered jacket in a fabric print of cute owls.

Social media post by Muslim Sisters of Éire, split across two images. First image reads:

We've spent the last 48 hours coordinating the logistics and prep work necessary to get our soup run stationed at the GPO. When we got to the top of O'Connell Street, the Guards wouldn't allow us to go through, but after much persuasion, they escorted us with a patrol car up to the GPO. Given the current situation, we truly appreciate them assisting us despite having their hands full.

We arrived and were surprised that the queue was not as large as expected. When we got there, a lot of people thought that we wouldn't be able to get through. Soon the word got out and the queue became much longer.

Everything went well; we had a lot of food and donations. A huge shout out to little Amelia who came to our office and donated €50 from her birthday money as well as her Easter eggs — such kindness and beauty in such a young child. A credit to her mammy and daddy.

Tonight took a deeply upsetting turn. As we were finishing our service, we were approached by a group of five or six individuals carrying Irish flags. They began shouting xenophobic rhetoric, telling us this country is "only for the Irish," that we don't belong here, and that we should "go home."

In a beautiful show of solidarity, those around the GPO immediately spoke up, asserting that we are Irish. However, the situation turned hostile. Our Chairperson and founder was targeted with verbal abuse and told to "go back where she came from" — despite being from Coolock. It was clear that because she wears a hijab, her identity as an Irish woman was being questioned.

The post from the previous image concludes:

In 11 years of service, we have never experienced such verbal abuse. It was difficult to maintain the peace, but the homeless community—truly amazing people—stepped up to protect us. We are grateful that the situation eventually de-escalated and the Gardaí arrived to disperse the group.

Providing 300 meals to those in need only to be met with hate is sickening. But let it be known: we remain undeterred. We are united, and we will always be there for the less fortunate, regardless of their background. In Ireland, you don't need an ID to receive a warm meal from a soup run.

We can't do this without your constant support. If you would like to help us or donate, please visit https://msoe.ie/donate/.

A series of quote-posts. First, Donald Trump on Truth Social posted a long rant, part of which is visible. It is too long to include in full but begins, "I know why Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones have all been fighting me for years, especially by the fact that they think it is wonderful for Iran, the Number One State Sponsor of Terror, to have a Nuclear Weapon — Because they have one thing in common, Low IQs. They're stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, tool Look at their past, look at their record. They don't have what it takes, and they never did! They've all been thrown off Television, lost their Shows, and aren't even invited on TV because nobody cares about them, they're NUT JOBS, TROUBLEMAKERS, and will say anything necessary for some 'free' and cheap publicity." He continues to rant about each of his targets in turn.

Ed Krassenstein posted a screenshot of that on Twitter and commented, "WOW! President Trump just completely turned on Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Alex Jones and Megyn Kelly."

Then Tim Pool quote-posted Ed's tweet with an all-caps comment reading, "That does it. I am done. This was the last straw. I'm so angry."

That's a link to an article, not an attached image. There is no affordance in bsky to add alt text to a rendered link because there's no guarantee that the link will always point to the same content. The linked site is responsible for accessibility.

Drawing of a thin woman in fantasy cartoon style. She has pale grey skin, pointy and elongated ears, several piercings on her ears and eyebrow, light hair that's long but shaved on the sides, and black lipstick. She wears a very sexy outfit: a skin-tight, black bolero shrug whose sleeves are full-length gloves with thin black straps that form an inverted pentagram on her upper chest, a red choker, a red strap over her breasts that only partly covers her nipples, a black "skirt" that is only a narrow panel hanging over her crotch, and a red garter belt decorated with cross shapes that is not attached to her thigh-high fishnets. She stands with one hand resting over the top of one breast and her hip cocked to the side.

An advantage of Firefox is that it supports the best ad blocker I’ve ever used. It’s genuinely improved my quality of life. I think it’s called uBlock Origin. Chrome won’t allow it because Google’s lifeblood is advertising revenue.

The only thing that poster has me curious about is the relative heights of all those people. Current assumption: The cold blonde woman on the left is at least 7’, or all the others are children under age 10.

I play a lot of pre-1600 music, and the clef used to be in whatever position created the fewest ledger lines. Sometimes they moved the clef in a random line jump within a piece! It does make reading from facsimile exciting.

And my previous position was also a lower salary from where I’d been before. We’re headed for an extreme wage gap, and that is *terrifying*.

I’ve been job hunting for more than a year and a half, and one of the most discouraging things is that pay for my “girly” job seems to be going *down* so much that I expect to end up with at least a 10% pay cut if I ever manage to land a job.

And vetting is more challenging than most realize because our human brains are accustomed to catching the kinds of errors *humans* make, which is not at all the kinds of errors algorithms make. Our eyes might well skip over them.
