Cher’s performance in the 1985 film, Mask, was well regarded with critics and audiences alike, even earning her a Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival and a Golden Globe nomination.

However, Cher failed to get an Oscar nomination for her performance, which she felt was an unfair snub. As revenge, she attended and presented at the 1986 Oscar ceremony with no regard for the ceremony’s wardrobe etiquette and wore a dress that was deemed to be a blatant middle finger aimed at The Academy.

A ★★★★ review of Hondo (1953) I would say that initially walking into this movie, I was a little worried this film would be another John Wayne vehicle where he would masquerade as the “All-American Man,” while disparaging the lega...

I normally am not a fan of Westerns, But Hondo (1953) did do a good job deviating away from Native American stereotypes prevalent during time and actually strived to make an honest western film.

A ★★★★½ review of Pickup on South Street (1953) Pickup on South Street is an under-appreciated, hidden gem of the film noir canon. This film has wonderful Hitchcockian elements, while also possessing tropes that can be easily found in Otto Preminge...

I also loved her in Pickup on South Street (1953).

A ★★★★★ review of The Mating Season (1951) I 👏🏻 Loved 👏🏻 This 👏🏻 Movie 👏🏻 So rare is it that one comes across a comedy-farce that has a sense of identity and purpose. The Mating Season was the tour de force of Thelma Ritter’s career. She is at...

The Mating Season (1951) is my favorite of Thelma Ritter’s performances. It’s the closest she got to be a film leading lady and she OWNS in this movie.

A Room at the Top (1959) is a somewhat dry film, but its messaging is quite progressive and its acting is incredible. Shoutout to Simone Signoret for her Oscar win and Hermoine Baddeley for her 2 minute Oscar nominated performance!
