Not necessarily. BNSF runs a pretty modern signaling operation on the racetrack and they still need 10 minutes to turn a train

I think they’re just incredibly old but not tilted at such a degree that it requires immediate fixing. I also think snow clearance (plows) are a big reason why many specifically pitch “out” like this as snow gets shoved into them
A rail line right here that fed into the Blue Line would go so hard, wonder if anyone has ever looked into something like that before
An old school magenta and green dialog box, title "Help Wanted" and message "Volunteer with the Bike Sox! We're looking for marshals and people to boost this post."
Want to help out with Bike Sox? We're looking for volunteers to help marshal (cork or caboose) our rides. Our route is pretty low key so this is a great way to get into marshaling. If you’re down to help, please fill out this short form: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
Boosts appreciated too.
I cannot tell you how many policy conversations I’ve been privy to where the central dilemma is “we need to incentivize private actors to do something, but for unclear reasons they cannot be permitted to earn any sort of profit by doing it.“
Combined with a property tax freeze, something like that

(E) the project is found by an independent, third-party feasibility analysis, to have the potential to result in an increase in regional transit ridership by not less than 10,000 average daily boardings.
RREDY megaprojects are only eligible if they contribute 10,000 new transit trips a day 👀
This section appears to expand the "Bears bill" to include One Central and whatever Justin Ishbia has planned for the Amtrak yards
Cute that you think there's that much consistency in which cars open up where on the platform, and I believe Metra's general railroad directions are in and out, not north or south
5x-10x the cost *so far*, shovels haven't hit the dirt yet
PUBLIC MEETING CHICAGO MOBILITY COLLABORATIVE Contact ASL interpretation will be provided. For any other accommodations, please email: romina.castilloguerrero@cityofchicago.org
Hi Chicago friends! Next Thursday is a CDOT Chicago Mobility Collaborative meeting. Some of our collaborative work on immigration enforcement & public transit will be part of the discussion. Hope to see you there!
Should get rid of platform numbers entirely and use track numbers
And how does that work for north-south routes, do they add west_boarding or whatever?
She's one of the best
I also don't consider VMT + tolls to be "double taxation", grade-separated limited-access facilities are more expensive to build and maintain, and users should be willing to pay a premium for a premium product
The gas tax is dying, we need to get serious about transitioning to more widespread tolling on Interstates and VMT fees for local roads

No one said it did negate the need for future full electrification
Seems like PrEP is slightly different based on the stereotypes of who uses it so I think that’s more homophobia than pseudoscience
The median American doesn’t get an annual flu shot, so when Covid hit there were tens (hundreds?) of millions of people who were told for the first time in decades that they needed to get not one but two shots. I think that’s a non-zero part of why it broke people’s brains
I’ve been genuinely wondering if the Covid vax was a pill, would it have gotten the same amount of hysteria? In other words, how much of all of this is people just afraid of needles?
Metra should throw up a mile of catenary on the Rock as a test segment to see how the FLIRTs perform under wire
CrossTowner regional rail service diagram
Speaking in terms of the CrossTowner regional rail vision: with the existing electrification of the MED and assuming we #BuildTheTunnel with catenary, with battery units it’s entirely possible we wouldn’t have to electrify *anything* on the UP-N/NW for initial operation.
With the way battery tech is evolving, discontinuous electrification and under-wire charging for heavy rail gets more and more plausible as bridge technologies for full electrification. If a battery can go from 20% to 80% in the turn time required for PTC initialization, that opens up huge potential

First things first, the bottom-third of states by population should give one senator each to one of the top-third states
Long Grove **lowered the vertical clearance** the last time they rebuilt the cover during the pandemic to two feet shorter than the previous clearance (went from 10'6" then to 8'6" today).
They know what they're doing, don't feel bad for the village.
The most recent Google Streetview from 2018 -- presumably because the camera mount is too high to go under the new cover -- shows the bridge uncovered during renovations maps.app.goo.gl/Twym1X1otxBp...
Fun fact about the "historic" covered bridge: it was uncovered until 1972, when Long Grove added the cover specifically to discourage trucks from using the bridge
