Lovely day out taking the Tamar Valley Line to Calstock and walking to Cotehele Mill . . .

One fallen stone in the foreground and two standing which are some of the remaining standing stones of the Trippet stone circle on Bodmin Moor near Blisland. We caught the edge of Storm Dave which caused very high winds - I couldn't keep the camera still so the picture is blurry from that and using night settings.
Blurry pic of part of the Trippet Stone circle. Taken last night in low light/high winds while on a dark skies walk with @cornishbirdblog.com and Carolyn Kennett. Sadly no stars, but we safely completed the walk from here to the Stripple Stones #StandingStoneSunday #StormDave #Cornwall
Ooo love this!! β€οΈ thank you so much for coming!!
Huge THANK YOU to the hardy group of folks who joined us on Bodmin Moor yesterday evening for the 2nd of our Dark Skies walks!
The moor was a very 'atmospheric' place last evening but the landscape never fails to inspire & I think we all had a wonderful if slightly windblown time!

β¨οΈNEW BLOG POST!
Back in 2025, I was asked to be involved in a project to bring the work of a little known local artist to print. When I saw the work of Oliver Bedford & his incredible journeys in China I knew that it was something that I wanted to be part of!

For hundreds of years damaged reputations were avenged and arguments were settled with a duel.
After coming across a couple of almost comical accounts of duels fought in #Cornwall I decided to dig a bit deeper . . .

For those who came on my guided walk to Goodaver Stone Circle at the weekend here is what is used to look like!
Such a different place back in 2022 when you could only get there by sneaking in through the plantation!

I'll be chatting to Julie Skentelbery on Radio Cornwall later today about this amazing standing stone on Goonhilly Downs.
For those of you that have missed it I've had a weekly slot with them for 5 years now discussing local history stories.

This - Buried at the Crossroads, by @cornishbirdblog.com - is highly recommended. If you've read her blog you'll know she has an uncanny knack for mining the highest grade of narrative ore from the Cornish archive. This little book does the same thing brilliantly in longer form.
Letβs give Cornish writer Elizabeth a follow. ππ
Liz is author of The Cornish Bird blog and podcaster.
