Mark is Izzy, forever yearning. He's been in love with his best friend, Ed, for years, but when Ed meets Stede, Izzy discovers he's helplessly fallen for Stede as well. He pretends to hate Stede as a form of "self-preservation." He confesses his undying love, does *not* walk away, & is invited in 😏🥰

Widower Daniel is giving Izzy. Quiet, reserved, loved his wife, and loves his kid. He'd move mountains for him. If the kiddo is, say, Louis, and Stede was his ex (maybe not deceased, but ran away with his new lover, bc: whim prone) and left his kid with Izzy, I could see him being an A+ step dad.

Karen is a complete Mary. No nonsense, witty, and a tongue so sharp that it will cut you, but she's also compassionate, loving, and deserves so much better than her shit husband.

The President of the US, played by Billy Bob Thornton, is definitely Calico Jack-coded. A double-crossing bully who gets put in his place. Almost as satisfying as, "Get off my ship! Now." 😁

Alan Rickman's character, Harry, is a total Izzy: a blunt, dickish grump, most of the time, but still pretty loveable in his dickishness.
ALTHOUGH, his relationship with his wife is definitely leaning more toward a Stede/Mary dynamic. 🤔 Hmm...

Martin Freeman's character, John, is giving big Oluwande vibes. Clearly the kindest, most respectful guy in the room. He's a bit shy, likes to joke around, and turns into an adorable blushing babe when his crush is around. ☺️

Jamie: a total mess of a man, cheated on by his wife, failed writer, clumsy AF, falls in love (basically) at first sight with someone he doesn't even share a language with, VERY Stede-coded.

These two are Stede and Ed coded, as a couple. Beautiful, in love, and everyone else is in love with them too (we'll get to why I think Mark = Izzy later, and why this love triangle should have ended up a polyamorous triad 🤪)

The Prime Minister is very Stede-coded, IMHO. Kind of a rambling, adorable mess, but ultimately a great leader who shows his strength when pressed. (Would that make the President of the US Calico Jack? Lol, that is kind of perfect!)

First up, rock star Billy Mack is a pretty perfect parallel to S1 Blackbeard. He's sick of the drugs, parties, and rockstar life ("It's all so f**king boring!") 😁. He wants to do something new, maybe the next Xmas gimmicky song will get him out of his comfort zone and make music fun again?

Doing my annual "Love Actually" rewatch, and I'm going to go thru the characters and tell you who I think is OFMD-Coded 😁 Let me know if you agree 😄

Aging rock star, Ed, trying to make a comeback with a cheesy Christmas hit, only to find that his long-time (and long-suffering) manager Izzy was the real Christmas gift all along? 🥹😍

But also! Alan Rickman cheating on his wife with his hot secretary? Stede and Mary parallel? 🤔 Maybe give Mary the happy ending that Emma Thompson deserved? 🥰

I really love the plotline of Martin Freeman's character as the nude stand-in for sex scenes. The blushing, adorable flirtiness is very Stede-Coded, IMHO 🤩
