The Code requires all employers to provide good air quality in their workplaces. This is defined as having CO2 levels consistently below 1000ppm. This GP clinic has gone above and beyond what is required by law and is demonstrating what the provision of true evidence based healthcare looks like.

The CO2 reading of 446ppm is making the invisible clean air aspect of this Doctor's community care, visible.
Not only is this clinic protecting their vulnerable patients from airborne pathogens and pollutants, but they are also fully compliant with the HSA Code of Practice for Indoor Air Quality.

Have you ever wondered how clean the air is in a GP clinic? This comes in from a GP clinic where air quality is taken very seriously. It is great to see such excellent air quality in a space where people go when they're most vulnerable due to illness, infection or injury.

Good air quality makes everyone's journey safer. It is also great to see compliance with the HSA Code of Practice for Indoor Air Quality as implemented by Statutory Instrument creating a safe and healthy workplace environment for all airport and airline staff.

International travel, by virtue of mixing lots of people from all over the world in a congregate setting indoors for lengthy periods of time, is a great way to spread airborne pathogens.
Improving ventilation systems and air filtration, are great ways to help reduce the spread of airborne disease.

This exemplary CO2 monitor reading comes in from someone travelling through Dublin Airport who found that the ventilation was quite excellent in the lounge past the US pre-clearance hall.
This is really positive to see.

Adults without children in their lives are completely oblivious to the problem of poor air quality in schools. How it impacts children's learning, their health, and household health.
This needs to change.

There are socio-economic inequalities in effect when it comes to air quality. And increasingly, this disparity is also becoming a generational inequality too between children who have no control over their environment and the adults who do.
Children and school staff are being left behind because, for some reason, school administrators don't recognise that the Code of Practice for Indoor Air Quality as implemented by Statutory Instrument also applies to school buildings.
As adults, many of us don't realise how privileged we are in being able to enjoy good air quality.
Many office buildings have now upgraded ventilation systems, supermarkets and public transport have mechanical ventilation in operation as well.
CO2 monitor reading showing excellent air quality throughout the duration of the conference, never rising above 800ppm and staying below 700ppm for the most part.
It was such a privilege and so refreshing to attend a conference and workshop dedicated to the topic of clean air in classrooms and to actually experience excellent air quality while doing so.
Thanks to the organisers @ucc.ie for hosting the event.
Thanks Joe for spreading the word! ☺️🙏
Tomorrow Tuesday, Cork.
Join Clean Air Advocay Ireland in shaping healthier classrooms.
It is that important!

Really looking forward to this event taking place in University College Cork next week! Open to teachers, parents, researchers and school leaders.

We held a public event in Ennis, County Clare to talk about our air monitoring project #TownAir.
Results confirmed coal burning as the dominant source of PM2.5 and a sensor network identified older residential areas as pollution hotspots.
Stop 🔥 for cleaner air.

He wrote, "This is preventive medicine at its best, but it can only be bought at the price of civic responsibility and vigilance." Riley's words ring true to this day and inspires us to continue fighting for clean air.

Only the untreated group got TB. These experiments reinforced the Wells’ message that airborne infection is real, can travel long distances indoors, & can be mitigated. Riley didn't believe people should have to take personal responsibility for breathing clean air any more than for drinking water
Ventilation ducts carried air from TB wards to another floor housing caged guinea pigs. ~ half the animals exposed to untreated air became infected. When critics questioned the findings, Riley created 2 identical guinea pig colonies, one breathing untreated ward air, the other air disinfected by UV.
They set out to prove that TB and many other pathogens are in fact spread through the air we breathe. Their work was built on by Richard Riley’s 1950s tuberculosis experiments at the Loch Raven Veterans hospital in Baltimore.
Routes of airborne exposure cannot be ignored as a key factor in any TB strategy.
We are reminded of a passage from Carl Zimmer's book 'Air-borne', which gives a thorough account of the history of aerobiology and details the work of visionary scientists, Mildred and William Wells.

Tuberculosis prevention is not just about treatment.
It is also about the air people breathe.
Air pollution increases susceptibility to respiratory infections, worsening lung inflammation and affecting recovery outcomes.

We support the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) in their calls to formally classify Covid-19 as an occupational disease.

24 EU Member States have already recognised Covid‑19 as an occupational disease or workplace accident.
The Irish government's failure to formally recognise Covid-19 as an occupational disease has had a negative impact on the delivery of long-term sick payments needed by so many workers.
White text on blue background: Did you know? Long Covid is still not recognised as an occupational disease in Ireland. Let's Clean Our Air. www.cleanairadvocacyireland.org
This Long Covid Awareness Day it is important to remember that Ireland remains among a small number of EU Member States that have not formally recognised Covid-19 as an occupational disease or injury, contrary to recommendations from the European Commission and the International Labour Organisation.
This highlights the importance of using extractor fans and opening windows when cooking, especially if using a gas hob. And if in need of replacing a cooker, these readings would suggest that going electric is the healthier option.

PM2.5 of 262 µg/m³ is >17 times higher than WHO recommended 24-hour safe limit of 15 µg/m³.
The 2nd image shows an increase of PM2.5 with Air Quality Index reading of 5, well within the 0-12 µg/m³ good air quality range. The 2nd PM2.5 reading is from a kitchen using an air fryer & electric hob.
