A complex challenge requires a diverse team of experts to work closely with patients from marginalised groups. Our project #HPVienna integrates all stakeholders into a groundbreaking #transdisciplinary framework delivering #genomic, #social, #modelling and #societal outcomes. 4/n
There are many HPV genotypes, and different types carry different cancer risks. #Vaccines covering up to 9 types are available, however #access and #uptake has historically been restricted by age, gender and geography. Tracking HPV types is important to understand impact. 3/n
#HPV associated diseases are a large #PublicHealth issue: as the most prevalent #STI 80% of people will get infected over their lifetime. Most cases clear within 2 years, but 10% of infections persist and may cause #cervicalcancer, #headandneckcancer or other #cancer types. 2/n
