reasonable question - folks in the US often take research assistant gigs between undergraduate and graduate school, or pursue a master’s degree before applying to PhD programs, and that’s where I believe the expected opportunities might lie
reality check: do prospective grad students really need to have first-authored papers to be competitive? perspectives have differed widely when sampling a few local colleagues. It's clear they can be sufficient, but the question is whether they are truly necessary ...

imo, our standing in the world was forever changed on presentation of the threat. the best we can do at this point is crisis management. but i’m not convinced of our capacity in that regard as a nation.
sidebar: puzzled that amplification from Mila Quebec suggested that psychedelics are being used or even vaguely considered for the treatment schizophrenia:

Grateful to be involved in this important work. Props to
Manesh Girn and Danilo Bzdok for leading! Hoping that folks read carefully and critically: notably, substantial between-drug differences challenge the primacy of "THE" psychedelic experience.

Hey BlueScienceSky ... what's up with Neurosynth? Is it dormant, hibernating, deprecated, or now fully unsupported? It's been a minute since I visited, and sorting by year in the "studies" page shows that the most recent study is from 2018. Help!
🧠 New Psychedelic Article in Schizophrenia Bulletin!
We argue that visual hallucinations in psychedelics and Lewy body disease may share common mechanisms ⇒ visual degradation & cortical excitation.

Today, Trump declared war on his own citizens, calling for U.S. cities to be used as “training grounds” for troops to confront what he called an “invasion from within.” Americans are a proud people, and no one (foreign or domestic) will threaten our home.

Pride isn’t a month it’s choosing authenticity every day. The rainbow flags represent decades of people who refused to hide. Your existence is already an act of courage. 🏳️🌈 Happy pride month !
Pritzker: It’s time for us to be done with optimism about their motives. Time to stop wondering if you can trust the nuclear codes to people who don’t know how to organize a group chat. It’s time to stop ignoring the hypocrisy in wearing a big gold cross while announcing the defunding of children’s cancer research… Autistic kids and adults who are loving contributors to our society don’t deserve to be stigmatized by a weird nepo baby who once stashed a dead bear in his car. Our military service members don’t deserve to be told by a washed-up Fox TV commentator, who drank too much before being appointed Secretary of Defense, that they can’t serve their country simply because they are Black, gay, or a woman.
Dear god let this man cook.
This. More of this. Much more of this. Thank you @vanhollen.senate.gov
I'm a member of the NIMH BSC. The members who were fired are outstanding scientists, which is why they were appointed to the BSC in the first place. Their firing for unspecified reasons is unconscionable.
edit: ... top LEFT-hand corner of your citation list ...
To do this, when viewing your own profile there is a button with a "+" sign toward the top right-hand corner of your citation list. Clicking that button, you can "Configure article updates", then select "Don't automatically update my profile. Send me email to review and confirm updates."
First, I would go through and delete anything that a) isn't yours, b) is duplicate, and c) isn't peer-reviewed.
Second, I would make sure that your profile is set up to not automatically add things - this way, you can confirm what is real before it is added to your profile ...
Thanks @eeschenberg.bsky.social!!
For Google Scholar, I make sure to only accept real peer-reviewed articles. There are occassionally conference abstracts and/or popular press, and sometimes (depending on your name) other folks articles that may appear or be erroneously linked to your profile ...
Thanks, Matt!!!!
gotta celebrate all small victories - I just passed 10k citations on google scholar :) only legit peer-reviewed articles (this can be a fickle and deceptive number depending on what items make it on the list).
Keep good Google Scholar hygiene, people!
