Can anyone explain why the close, minimize and full screen icons on the Outlook for Mac app progressively get further apart until you restart the app? So weird!
Genuinely obsessed with this picture of a groundhog (prairie dog?) I took earlier today
The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) is a cornerstone of U.S. weather science. AMS urges a transparent, community-driven review before restructuring such critical infrastructure.

Persnickety is a great word. While we should all not be more persnickety, we should use it more.
Today is the International Day of #WomenInSTEM. Proud to be living my dreams every day and grateful for those women who came before me. I hope to make the path easier for the next generation of women scientists!

Fun with ice crystals!
This is not uncommon, it happens every so often, but it's still always fun to see it when it does! Some of the quirks of satellites meteorology :)
It's currently so cold in the Great Lakes/Midwest region that the ground looks like clouds (in IR bands at least)! Notice the blue/purples over Illinois, Indiana and Ohio don't really move like the clouds, but are currently reading ~-20C to GOES! It's is very cold here, send warm thoughts! #ILwx

ILL!!!

Excited to be at AGU this week! If you're around Tuesday AM and have some time, I'll be presenting a poster on our recent modeling results on how thermodynamic and kinematic environmental changes impact overshooting top and the updrafts that produce them! agu.confex.com/agu/agu25/me...
Was looking through some old plots and found this gem: the Skew-wind!
Bye radar snow hole! Waiting for another 3-4" of snow on top of the 7-8 we got over the weekend!
Flakes are probably now hitting/close to the ground in CIL close to the radar!
The first three figures in my poster were recently published in GRL and can be read here: doi.org/10.1029/2025...
Just returned home from an outstanding week of science in Utrecht at the 12th European Conference on Severe Storms organized by @essl-ecss.bsky.social! It was great to share our OT work as well as grow connections with our European colleagues! Thanks to all who made this possible!
This is definitely my favorite picture from last night:
I think this is the best we've had in CU! Truly stunning!
Wow!!!!
This substorm!!!! Definitely a rival to October 24
Unreal aurora now outside of Champaign, IL!
Clouds today are trying to eke out every last drop of snow before we warm back up to 70! by the weekend
Having crochet as a hobby is constantly humbling because I'm reminded of the fact that while I can solve differential equations, I, in fact, cannot count to save my life or my projects.
