as a very beginner bike commuter, i tried riding downtown in 2015, had a horrifying experience, and avoided it for years — but i recently started riding downtown again this year and it’s like night and day. very exciting we’re getting another crucial connection point here!

if cities really want human-generated data on potholes, ask cyclists. we know every dip and hole on our regular routes by heart because our lives quite literally depend on it. and all that data is tracked by tens of thousands of Garmin devices, if you want neatly mapped data - no waymos necessary
